I'm planning a surprise luau/bbq for FH's b-day. I bought a bunch of decorations and stuff from Oriental Trading. I'm planning on getting a keg and food (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, fruit, chips). Do you think that's enough or do I need to supply hard alcohol too? I'm trying not to spend a fortune because I'm also buying him a Swiss Army luggage set. Do I need to supply anything else?

I would at least supply beer.

I would get some wine or fun frozen drinks or a punch......if you are trying to cut costs that way you have something else alcoholic for those that don't drink the beer.

Sounds like you have all the bases covered. If the people who you invite offer to bring stuff I would say let them, like maybe potato or macaroni salad, or buns or something.

I'm getting a keg. Maybe I'll make a big batch of sangria or punch for the non-beer drinkers. After that, they're on their own.
