has anyone done this....I heard that you can get really good prices on the RH and vendors. Would it be too late to book vendors and get a wedding dress?
i am really set on Crescent beach Club but I can't spend $200pp. Also does anyone know if CBC has a guest minimum?

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
My friend did this. She did everything in 6 months and ended up getting married at a church and had the reception at Thatched Cottage.. so it's def. do-able.
I just spoke to her the other day actually and she said that vendors looked at her like she was crazy when she said the wedding was in 6 months.

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
It is definitely doable. I am doing it right now. I just got engaged on 2/2/09 and my wedding is 9/19/09, just like yours!
If you have any vendors that you must work with, I would contact them asap to see if they have availability, if not , you will definitely be able to find someone else. I did not run into any problems at all with finding my venue and securing my church. I'd do that first for sure. I have already been in touch with most of my vendors and things have been smooth so far. The only big thing is that you have to be in FULL wedding mode 24/7 (i would have been that way anyway even if i waited 2 years haha) and plan, plan, plan. Your details have to come together a lot quicker and often you will have less time to make major decisions. For me, i'm in a highly stressful sales environment, so I wouldn't be able to plan for over a year and that's why i'm doing it in 7 months. If you have that drive to get it done, which i'm sure you do, it wont be a problem!
btw: FH may get a little overwhelmed at times because you will be in planning mode all of the time and asking him random questions everyday. So just warn him now! lol
Good luck!!!

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
Yes it can be done. I booked the RH I didn't think I could afford and am having it on a Saturday nite, just 3 weeks ago. So I am planning my wedding in less than 5 months. I've ordered my gown, got my shoes, booked my band and booked my honey moon. I won't lie to you, I am running around like a looney tune, but all the girls on this site have made it easier to plan things. I am also running to all the bridal shows that are available. Good luck and any help I can give you, just ask.

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
as to wedding dress, alot can be ordered in 6 mos but some take almost 1 year so just be sure to ask about designers wait time before you start looking at ones that take too long.
I think you can buy off the rack at David's and Estelle's has a good variety off the rack too.
you might be able to do off the rack at RK bridal in manhattan.
so a dress should not be impossible as long as others have said, you are a bit flexible. you might also check the posts here because girls sometimes buy 2 and sell one.

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
While I have been engaged a while, I booked the Crescent Club in November of 08 for my June 2009 wedding and I definitely got a break. As for dresses they will tell you it is a rush but it can be done! Good luck!

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
As for the dress, you need to start looking ASAP! If you are a sample size or smaller you can have a sample dress tailored to fit you. One of my BM had to do this because the salon had actually ordered her wedding gown in the WRONG COLOR (candlelight with gold thread instead of ivory with silver thread). They took the gown on the floor and turned it around in a few weeks. Even though the sample was a size 10 and she's really a size 2, you'd NEVER know that the dress wasn't what she originally ordered.
Otherwise, there are certain salons that have multiple sizes in stock. Pronovias in Manhattan has a very fast turnaround time as well as Demetrios Bridal Salon at Macy*s.
GL!

I honestly don't think I could survive if the planning was longer then this; I'd think I'd have to kill myself!
All it takes is organization and dedication. And flexibility is key!!! If you have particular tastes and specific venues and vendors in mind that is when it will be challenging.
Here I am...22 days to go and I still don't have a photographer and a limo company booked yet, LOL! I'm not worried though; I have appoinments set up for this weekend and am confident that both will be booked by Monday.

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
We actually went to the CBC last year when we first started looking at RH's and they told us they wold give us a great price if we wanted to get married last summer!
I was really tempted since I grew up in Bayville and always wanted to get married there, but we were too chicken to do it. You could probably save a ton of $ though! Good luck!

Re: Planning a wedding in 6 months....
I know someone who got engaged the end of August and was married in November. It can be done! Just make lists and be very organized! Also designate help from friends and family!
