Planning a wedding in 8 months or less

I wanted to know if there was anyone else out there that planned there wedding 8 months or less. We are looking now to have our wedding in may 07 but that is only 8 months away...HELP

Plenty of brides have done it with great success. You'll be fine once you book the ceremony & reception location...the rest falls into place.

This site is an amazing resource - especially w/the recm'd vendors from other brides.

You can do it

I am getting married May 07' and in the last 6 months I have done almost everything except for invites and things like that

me!
it is more stressful than having a year........
but it is do-able.

I did exhaustive research almost non-stop in the beginning and just kept powering thru. this board will help a lot.

i'm also renovating a house and moving in that time-span!

I did. I started the planning in January (mid-late) and got married in Mid-August of the same year.

It just takes focus and NOT FREAKING OUT. DH was very helpful. He took care of his 'assignments'.

We set a list of what had to happen and follow it in order

- Set a budget and agree to stick to it!!!!!
- Talk to DH about what we we BOTH wanted... size (# of guests), style, etc... be sure to be on the same page from the beginning so you don't lose time later on.

Then (we found the following order important since they tend to book easily):

- look for and book the hall
- get the dress
- photography/Videography
- MU/Hair (especially if you want a 'popular' person)
- DJ
- Flowers
- Hotel for wedding night (sooner if you have to book rooms for OOT guests)
- Limo

you can totally do it!!!! we only had a total of 11 months...and I am almost done planning everything...with over 5 months to go! it can totally be done!

go to Med manor, they give special deals for last minute weddings. And its AMAZING

We did ours in about 9 months. We booked our hall in September '05 and had a May '06 wedding. It wasn't overly hectic or stressful and we didn't have any problem finding top-notch vendors. In fact, not one of our first choices was booked. Start looking for a hall and a dress (they can take months to come in) right away, though!

definately doable. We had a 9 month engagement and planned our wedding in 7 months.

one of the good things....is that we got the hall cheaper because we booked in under a year!

My BM did it in 7 months and was able to negotiate with all her vendors. The only problem sometimes is you can't get your first choice of vendors. Her first dress choice would not have been ready in time, so she was given a choice of dresses that they could get in before her date. It all worked out great and her wedding was a blast.

I planned my wedding in 7 months. It can definitely be done! You just need to make sure you stay on top of the details. Keep lots of lists and use your bridal party to help. Also, order your dress and pick a ceremony / reception hall first!! Those things both have time delays associated. Good luck!!
