Hi Ladies, I am originally from San Diego, CA, but I've been in NYC for the past four years. This is where I met FH, the love of my life! Anyhow, my mom and I are extremely close and I'm wondering if anyone else is planning or will be planning a wedding with their mom in another state and if so how that's working out. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated! Thanks a million!

My mom lives in FL and we are extra close also. We speak every day. Everything was going ok until i went dress shopping the other day. Thats when it really hit me that she wasnt here. I got so emotional that I just left. I decided to go down to FL just to look at dresses. She will also be coming up for a few weekends.

Thanks for the response! I definitely can't do the dress shopping without my mom! My little heart wouldn't be able to take it. I When that time comes she will come to NY and we'll spend a week or so shopping around and having fun!

My parents moved up to our house on Cape Cod but my mom comes down to NY like once a month. We email each other pics allll the time & I talk to her on the phone basically every day, sometimes every other. She still came with me to several RHs and to try on gowns.

Hey! I can totally relate. I'm originally from NY but live in Los Angeles now. I just got engaged over the holidays when I was back in NY. It's super hard to plan a NY wedding from the West Coast. That's why I'm hoping this site will help! :)
My mom and I have been communicating over email almost daily and she can check out dresses and venues online. I plan on waiting to go dress shopping until the next time I'm on the East Coast. I want my first trip to be with her and special.

My best friend is actually doing the opposite as you! She's in CA planning a NY wedding and that's where her mom lives. They survive by sending each other lots of emails with pictures and Skyping.

I am doing this. I'm in Florida, mom is in Ohio and the wedding is NY (FH home). Anyways, I won't lie it can be very stressful and a lot of hurt feelings at first. But now that the ball is rolling, things are working out ok.
As others have mentioned send e-mails with lots of pics!
