Planning for 2006

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I was wondering how far along everyone was. Ive already got the place, DJ, photo and video and some of my friends think Im doing too much to soon. What do you guys think?

Hi, welcome!!

So far all I've got done is the ceremony/reception place, which is at the same location. We're working on a band and photographer right now.

Welcome, Lisa!

I'm planning for 2006, and all I have is the hall, I'm workingnon the ceremony, and I have a pretty good idea who I'm hiroing for photo and video.
I don't think it's really too early. it's bets to get the stress out of the wya as soon as posisble!

Everyone has their opinion of what is too much for planning since the wedding is 2006...As I say, I am almost 1 year away...I have the church, hall, photo/video, flowers, BM & my dress ordered, shoes bought, some BM gifts bought...We are currently working on limos & bands....

I agree with Kissy27 everyone will have an opinion on whether or not you've done enough or too much. Just do what's best for you. I have all the vendors except the florist booked and I am meeting with one this Tuesday so hopefully that will be done next week as well. I just wanted to get everything done early which guarantees that the vendors you really want aren't booked yet.

i'm a delinquent bride and just have the hall and church booked. but i've done a lot of research.

kissy is right - everyone is different. my philosophy of late is 'you do what you want, when you want'

right now, i'd like to eat an egg mcmuffin.

I have NOTHING booked!

Its only because we can't officially book our location and chapel until 1 year before the wedding. Only a few more weeks, and I'll be a planning/interviewing/hiring/deposit paying diva.

Hi and welcome to the fun!!

I have the hall, church, DJ, Photo/video and of course the most important thing about the wedding...THE FH!!! lol...Do things at your own pace and don't listen to what other ppl say it's your wedding not theirs...I heard everything and yeah I got pissed but I shrugged it off and kept on planning...Right now I'm at a stand still and waiting to do the rest...

I don't think it's too soon.....as long as you love your vendors and looked around enough, you're fine.

You got the big ones taken care of, the vendors that one couple can take away from you if they have the same date. You can relax a bit now....

I have only booked reception hall and church. Our friend is videotaping our wedding and hopefully I will know this weekend if my friend's cousin is going to DJ the wedding.

I totally agrre with that. I feel likenow I can breathe until at least the end of the summer and then I will start looking for dresses.

I appreciate everyone writing me back. I feel like some of my friends that are passing judgement are only doing it b/c they have no idea what it means to be engaged. I mean its alot different then you would think right? All you do day in and day out is think about the wedding! It will be a blessing the day after..lol.

Hey Lisa, I have my hall, church, photo/video booked but I have a few other vendors picked out that I haven't booked yet. Trying to get it all done early so I can concentrate on school and not have to do all this stuff mid-semester. Happy Planning!!!

I getting married at the Westbury Manor too!!! So far i have booked the hall, the photographer & video, Dj and Florist. Book as much or as less as you want. It is your wedding do what works for you

I agree you have to do what's best for you I don't think that you jumped the gun ...Hey might as well get your self 2004 prices ....I my self have my hall/ceremony site, flowers, all my stationary, invites, menus, thank-you, chair covers all in contract - this month we are doing our DJ and I also have all ready bought my place card holders and favors...its so much fun ...who could hold off

Welcome! I have my hall booked, that's it. I am working on photographer. I don't think you are doing too much too soon...you want to get the best vendors, so keep planning!

I am getting married in July 2006 and all I have is the church and reception hall.
