Planning from afar

I know there is at least one other bride out there who is planning the wedding while NOT on Long Island...

I'm in Greenland currently and moving to probably Germany next year. I'm hoping to do all my booking in the 1 week I go back next spring, but how are you doing research and booking while you're not in the state? Anyone?

FH came to LI for the first time this summer with me for only 3 days, and thats when we picked the RH. My parents still live on LI but we have very different tastes, so my mother will help me look but I can't exactly trust her opinions.

Everyone else lives out of state so i'm very interested in everything you'll be looking at. I've tried to do research online but the internet here is very slow.

Are you having the ceremony on-site?

I plan on doing in depth research on Dj's and Photographers this winter to interview in April... but
my dads best friend is a priest out in Greenport and he will be doing our ceremony. Problem is, thats 40 minutes away and I'm so worried that people aren't going to want to make the extra trip... so I'm trying to figure out a transportation plan. I could care less what our getaway car is, I don't plan on spending a lot of my money on that, but I'm having a day wedding, so 10am on East Long Island then a 12pm CH start time is driving me crazy!

You ladies really have your work cut out for you. I'm right here on the Brooklyn/Queens border, literally at the Belt Parkway going towards LI and I complain.. It'll all be worth it in the end though.
