Hi! Those of you who have seen me on here the past couple weeks I am planning my wedding on Long Island from up here in Boston, MA. I have tried to contact places, email and left messages but they are reluctant to give me pricing without coming in or they dont respond at all. Very frustrating at this point. I need to book soon but I have lists of like 30 places so I need to narrow it down as I will only have 2 days to check out reception sites.
Not to sound cheesy as I hate to mention pricing but in order to get an accurate idea of which places I can actually afford (we are paying for it all ourselves) I am looking for about $80pp give or take. I am planning a Friday evening wedding summer of 2009 (most likely in August).
If you have any price quotes in this area please post or FM me.
Places I am interested in but I have got no response from are:
1. Swan Club 2. Jericho Terrace 3. Riveria 4. Hamlet Wind Watch 5. Window's on the Lake 6. Mansion at Timberpoint 7. East Wind 8. Giorgio's
Other suggestions are welcome too!
Thanks again as always! :)

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
i'm dealing with the same issues from vendors and such... I'm upstate by syracuse right now, very annoying planning out of town!
Anyway, Giorgio's for that time I believe is $125-$140 pp... my dad is friends with George Sr's nephew so he gave us a really good deal for October.
The only other place I looked at, though not on your list, was The Watermill- I got quoted $95 pp for a Friday night in October.

You can definitely get that price at Timberpoint and it is very beautiful. I used to work at the Riviera about 13 years ago and it's beautiful and I believe it isn't too bad plate wise but that was a long time ago. Negotiate with your cocktail hour if nothing else. I'm getting married at Bellport Country club and to have passed hors d'oeuvres it was an extra $6 a person!!! We took that out!
Good Luck!

I'm glad I am not the only one. It's sooo frustrating though!!
I would just like to rule out places that are out of my range than going all the way there and turning around walking back out when I see the price tag... if you know what I mean. Especially with such little time to see these places. I don't want to miss out on a really nice place that is affordable.
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
Not sure if this will help, but it might give a ballpark. These are RH price quote threads for 09 and 08. There may be others out there.
Sunset Harbour is about 75pp for a Saturday evening in September! It might even be cheaper for you in August. That fell into our budget so we booked them!

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
I would suggest calling the RHs to see if they have dates availble before you trek there. I am also planning from OOT. Went in last weekend and there very little left in sept/oct 2009 for the places i looked at but those are also popular months. GL!!!

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
Thanks so much. I am def checking swan club. I am so excited to see the places. I want to go right now. I have to wait till school is out though I don't think my students would take it too will if their guidance counselor skipped out the last few weeks of school. LOL!

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
I planned mostly from OOT, call each hall ask if they have the day available-tell them that you are OOT-DO NOT tell them that you will coming to visit to check out the place if theyare in your price range. just tell them that you will be doing all booking over the phone and can they send you their price quotes for the day you want with cost of additions, what it includes etc.
I did this and was able to get each and every hall to accomodate my request-THEN when I came to visit i brought the ones I wanted to see with me so i knew what to expect and had the emails in front of me. Some may even send you the paperwork in the mail, they did for me

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
Hi there
We are doing the same thing, planning our wedding (this july) from Boston. I understand your frustration completely, it has been difficult, and we had many trips. We will be at the Swan Club, and it's a great place.
Good luck...

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
you might want to check larkfield Manor. I think I saw in a recent post that it was about $80 for a Friday evening in summer.
We had our reception there and it is beautiful, plenty of delicious food and the people are wonderful to deal with.

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
I was quoted 74 pp for riviera for sunday night 08. 70 -90 at Swan Club for the same. Both were really pretty. We were strongly considering the Riviera just because we wanted to be the only wedding there, and we went to a tasting there, and the food was good. Good luck!

Re: Planning from out of town - Price quotes
I think the Swan Club is a great place to go look because it's def in your budget and its such a beautiful place.
I really recommend finding a handful that you love and check it out regardless if its in your pricerange. Some times they work with you if your flexible. I got an amazing deal at Jericho Terrace, but I gave them room to work with me by being a Thursday bride.
A hall that I found to be sooo beautiful AND affordable was Leonards of Greatneck!
