Planning your own shower?

Planning your own shower?

Is anyone else doing this? My mom is paying for it but I insist on being involved in the planning.. I guess I'm a bit of a control freak. I have a sister but she's horribly organized (we're opposites in that respect) and just thinking of her planning anything makes me nervous...

I'm not. I've hinted at what I would like -- but I dont want to be involved in all the planning. And my MOH (sister) doesnt want me to be

im involved but not because im a contral freak or anything but because my moh/sis thought it would be a good idea to have it at my house. its bigger than my fmil house and i told them i dont want them spending extra money on a restaurant.
anything to make things easier for my family

omg I'm the same way. I've already told my MOH's I want to be a part of the planning. I need to be in control.

i know when/where and made a few requests, but i am not getting involved in the planning... trying to stay as far away from it as possible!

I'm not being involved at all unless my MOH, BM's or mom need help . . . then I'd be more than willing. I'm old school with this type of thing and wouldn't feel right planning it myself. I just don't feel it's something I should be involved in, but that's my opinion. If other people have reasons that they need to plan it themselves then they should do whatever they feel is good for them.

Ditto. It's funny though because every once in a while, I'll say something to my mom about my shower, and she says 'You're not supposed to have anything to do with it!'

FMIL just tries to lie and tells me I'm not getting one

my mother will not have that! she wants it to be a complete suprise...so it's up to her and my sister in law (my matron of honor)

Re: Planning your own shower?

I'm not actually planning it in the sense that I am picking the date/time/games/etc. but I have told my mother than I would really like it to be at her house. I don't want her or my BMs spending any extra money to rent out a hall/restaurant.

The only thing I requested was that I would like to have a Napoleon Cake from il Toscano's on Douglaston Pkwy because it is by far my favorite cake in the world (I wish I could have them make my wedding cake but my SIL already tried that and they can't )

All the other details of the day is entirely up to her and who she is planning it with.

Just wanted to say ITA with you on this! I was starting to think I was the only one who felt this way about wedding/baby showers!
