Plans after marriage....

Where do you want to live? Are you planning on buying a house or renting an apartment? How soon after do you want to have children?

We went to buy a house after we get married, but who knows if we can afford it right after. We plan on getting an apartment this summer too before the wedding, so we may stay in that apt for an extra year to save more money. I really want to stay on LI, but we don't know if we can afford it and where my FH will have to do is residency. I hope it works out, we want to stay by our family and friends. I want to have children like 2 years after because we want 4 children and I want to be done having children by 35 tops. Plus I don't want to have children one right after the other.

We are going to start looking at houses sometime next yr.. maybe start just going to some open houses to see what is out there & then when more serious, we'll look into a realtor. We were pre-approved for a mortgage but banks will give a loan to anyone with a pulse even if you can't afford it lol. The prices really are ridiculous.. we're hoping we'll be able to find an ok 'fixer upper' for a reasonable price in a decent neighborhood. We're going to try to stay on Long island. Probably somewhere in eastern nassau county. As for kids, no clue!! Definitely want a few but not right now. I'd hope to have one by 30yrs old.. which would be about 3.5 years after the wedding.

We are planning to buy a house right before we get married. I would love to have the house almost completely set up so when we come back after our honeymoon everything is all set. As far as children are concerned we want to make sure we are settled, especially financially before they come, so we are probably looking at 3 yrs after we get married

Right now we are in an apartment, probably after we get married we will start looking at houses. Dont know yet whether we will look here (SC) or in NY

We'll probably rent an apartment. I should have about a year to go before my BA in education(if everything works out). Hopefully we can stay on LI, but looking for out of state.

We're going to start looking for a house next summer. We are looking at Orange and Sullivan countries. We are going to have a house built. With house prices on LI, we could never afford to live comfortably and still pay the mortgage.

We already rent an apartment and have a daughter. We don't know if we're buying a house. We might look into buying a condo. My parents offered to buy us one once they sell their house. I don't know yet though. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

re21581- We are also looking in Orange County. My FH lives in Rockland, but Orange is more afordable and not that far. Plus its close to where he works.

We will be looking for a house before we get married. Since we are not getting married until 2008 we have alot of time. LOL We will be looking for a house in one year. I want to go to Long Island and he wants to go Upstate. We have been debating this for a couple of months now. I want to have children after a year of marriage. I will be starting when I am 30 and he will be 33.
