I am trying to come up with a place to take some engagement photos...preferably without having to pay for a damn permit...but right now, all I can have is the Planting Fields in Oyster Bay or the Sands Point Preserve in Port Washington. There is a huge difference in price ($100 for Planting Fields and $200 for the other) but there is a beach/shoreline at Sands Point.
Has anyone been to either of these? Any recommendations? Suggestions??

go to morgans park in glen cove... they have that beautiful stone trellice that is right on the water and as far as I know you dont have to have a permit to go in and take pictures, you just have to walk a little bit
I just looked it up and it sounded perfect...up until the part about the permit and requests to be done 30 days prior
Thanks anyways!

Re: Planting Fields or Sands Point Preserve
honestly, when were you looking to take picstures? because as far as I know no one monitors the place off season. You can just walk down there, unless you are having a huge set up and its obvious that you are taking photo shoot pictures.
We are looking at the weekend of the 23rd. And it's definitely not a big shoot at all...really just a friend taking pictures for us!

We did our wedding pics last month at planting fields and I couldn't have been happier! We were supposed to do them at Morgan Park, but our permit got denied and now I am glad it did!

So was it worth paying the $100???

There is a park in Port Washington not far from Sands Point called the Manorhaven Beach Park. There is a shoreline there and I don't think you need a permit because it is a public park. It overlooks the Sound and there are a few swing sets if you want picture on those too. I'm planning on taking my e-pics there in a couple weeks. They are doing construction on the pool which affects one of the walkways but not the beach area.
Thanks!! That looks pretty nice...we may have to check it out!

Planting Fields was worth more than the $100 they charge. It is sooo beautiful and my proofs came out AMAZING!!! Pictures by the pool are especially beautiful because of all the colors. I am completely in love with that park now!
