I have Calphalon Nonstick Professional II cookware so we use the plastic utensils so they don't scratch the pots. It seems that the taste of the plastic gets on the food that I am cooking. Does anyone else have this problem? I have tried washing the utensils a hundred times and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Re: Plastic Utensil Question
I know..but I just got married and trying the cooking thing.... Maybe if I give them time the plastic taste will eventaully go away? Otherwise I am going to have buy different ones. I received them as gifts for my shower.

Ive never had this problem. Maybe the ones you are using arent meant to be used in high heat and are melting?? Just a guess.

Re: Plastic Utensil Question
I use wodden utensils for non-stick stuff and no after taste. the only plastic utensil I have is the soup thingie, and that one doesn't taste plasticky. But I only use it to take soup from pot and put it into the plate, I don't cook with it. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond, but not sure which brand.

Re: Plastic Utensil Question
They sell plastic utensils that are made to withstand high temps (some up to 700 degrees.)
These are what I use:
Spoon/Spatulas
these are great! Here's why: A Matfer exclusive combination of polyamide and composite fiberglass. Its incredible non-pourous properties repel bacteria and keep it from discoloring due to foods you're preparing. What's more, the cooking tool remains cool to the touch - even at temperatures up to 430 degrees. You'll never use wooden spoons again!
-Measures 12' -Constructed of durable Exoglass - completely heat-resistant up to 430F -Can be sterilized; 100% waterproof -Non-porous -Dishwasher safe
