FMIL ordered a gown, which she told me was silver/gray. I guess in my mind, I pictured it differently, but when I saw it yesterday, it was so pale that it looked white!
I should also mention that it has a lace train, would this bother any of you?
PS FMIL loves to be the center of attention, maybe that's why I'm so bothered by this!

The little train wouldn't bother me, but the color would. What does your FH think?

My FMIl bought a cream dress and my gown is ivory. I know she's not trying to steal the spotlight, but it does bother me a little so I totally know how you're feeling. I told her to keep the dress because I know she had been looking for a while, but I certainly would have prefered she get something with some color. If you're really uncomfortable about it, ask her if the dress could beo ordered in another color because you don't think her dress is appropriate.

Up close I'm sure people could tell the difference but how will it look in photos? It would probly be bothered if it looked like a second marriage type dress. If not then maybe it's not such a big deal?!

I would be worring how the platinum would come out in the photo's. With so many pretty dresses out there, in sooo many colors...why does it have to be so close to yours?

Girls, thank you for all of your answers. At least I know that I am justified in feeling upset. My wedding is so soon that it's too late to order a new dress, I guess I'll have to live with it!

If she loves to be the center of attention, I wouldn't worry if in her mind the dress is going to do it because (a) SHE WILL NOT BE and (B) it's better than her thinking of some OTHER WAY to try to get noticed!
