Hey girls, For those of you getting platinum wedding bands could you let me know in the poll how much you spend. My favorite is $999.99 (which by the way, why don't they just say $1,000?) and I'm just wondering if thats a lot of money for a band. It has like a rope design that twists with diamonds in between the rope sections, so it looks like x's and o's I would really appreciate it.

Re: Platinum wedding bands
IMO if you got a platinum band WITH diamonds for 999 ..that is VERY good! I am assuming the diamonds are chip like...if not then that is the best price i have ever heard of. Mine was MUCH more!

Re: Platinum wedding bands
I think you're goin to spend at LEAST $1000. My ering setting is platiunim and it has 2 rounds and 4 baguettes in it, and it was $1500, so I'm expecting to spent at LEAST as much for a diamond band.

I agree! Mine was less than $1000 but only because of my employee discount. It retails for $2500...and if you buy wholesale (which I strongly suggest because the Diamond Disctrict is such a great NY resource) expect to pay at least $1200 for a plat band with diamond (good quality).
Don't get down...the prices are normal and the band will last forever! Besides, compared to your e-ring, the band is 'cheap' at least that's how I looked at it.

Re: Platinum wedding bands
The range I have seen for the one I want (5-stone, 1 ct total weight) is anywhere between $1800-$4500. $4500 being Scott Kay.
$1000 for a platinum band with diamonds is VERY reasonable, IMO.

Re: Platinum wedding bands
The most inexpensive plat band I saw has 14 diamonds and was $1100 (Fortunoff's)....I got an eternity plat band from the jeweler who made my e ring....and it was about $1300 and change. I really love it though!!!

Re: Platinum wedding bands
Sounds like a good price..mine was custom made (cost about 1,500) and looks similar to this picture.

This is what mine is going to look like but it will probably cost me around $1200, but that is b/c the jewler is a family friend. retail probably about $1500-1600

Re: Platinum wedding bands
I got mine in the jewerly district in LA and it was 850 with a 1/2 carat of diamonds- g quality or better. They are definately not chips but small. The band is thick though and engraved.I find everything in NY to be so much more expensive
Here's a similar pics that someone posted earlier- except the band is going to be engraved to match my ering.
My FH did a search on historical platinum prices and there has been a general dip in the price of platinum at the end of the summer. He looked at the trends for the past couple of years. If you aren't buying retail, you may want to wait until then. That is our plan but we aren't putting diamonds in our bands because we have to have solid bands.

If anyone is interested, www.kitco.com has prices for gold, platinum and silver.
And the new trend in jewelry is titanium...so if anyone wants to be 'trendy' and have a ring that will pretty much last forever for a fraction of the price, look into titanium. HTH!

my FH is getting a titanium wedding band. all he needed to hear is that they use titanium in weapons and he wanted one - lol. he's such a guy! I personally don't care what he gets, just as long as he wears it

Re: Platinum wedding bands
We got my platinum band in the Chinatown diamond district. baguettes/rounds with a block of platinum in between and the total was $450. And it had to be made because they only had white gold in stock.

Re: Platinum wedding bands
It sounds like a good price for a platinum band.. though the type/quality of diamonds really matters.
I ended up getting a 5 stone (1ctw) princess cutt colorless platinum band for $1400. And we did a LOT of research both on the diamond district and outside.
Platnum bands really do cost more than white gold.
