It is so retarded to spend that kind of $ on a wedding-even if you have it to spend! I would rather get a nice house and donate the rest. Everything was very pretty-but it wopn't be as pretty as all of ours

I notice that some of these lavish weddings are ethnic in nature. I wonder if it has something to do with that... ?

In Asian countries like India weddings are a huge deal and it's a symbol of your status in society. It's no uncommon for them to spend a couple year's worth of salary for such an event!

I think it is so excessive. Even when I see the over-the-top celeb weddings (like Star Jones or Melissa Rivers) have these multi-million dollar affairs....save a small country or something of you've got that money to burn. JMO.

And an 11 carat ring.....ugh

Exactly! What is this crazy amount of money spent on a single event? It kinda sets you up for an unrealistic lifestyle.

Her ring must look silly - I don't get that channel so if anyone has pictures or a site I can get to I would love to see it!

the first episode with the russian couple--the wife is a clothing designer, but they didnt mention what the husband does. i cant believe they spent over 850,000 on their wedding!
