Please Answer - Need Help
How do you determine what length/type veil you should wear?I'm wearing a strapless dress with opera-length gloves. I'd like to wear a 'waterfall' veil, but I don't know if it should be short, elbow length, fingertip, etc. Also, what's the difference betwen oval, gathered, etc? I'm so confused

My dress is strapless also but I'm not wearing gloves...but my veil is fingertip length and it makes the whole thing just flow really nicely.

Do you have alot of work on your dress? If you do I would say elbow length. My veil is elbow length I plan on taking the veil off in the middle of the reception and still having my tiara on.You are a very smart girl on ordering online! I wish I had thought of doing that!!! You really save a lot of $$$$ Did you try Patchouge floral fantasy? They have very affordable veils and headpieces.

Re: Please Answer - Need Help
My mom made 3 different length veils and I tried them all on to see which one I liked best.

Very nice Jenn
Well, my dress is very simple, but I wasn't sure about the veil length b/c of the glove length. There is detail on the back of my dress (like the back bra strap area). So, I didn't want to wear anything long. But, I'm confused with the difference b/t gathered, oval and waterfall. Also, what is 2 and 3 layer usually used for? Thanks, guys!!

Re: Please Answer - Need Help
Standard Cut
Oval Cut
Centered Gathered
Our center gathered veils start with a single piece of fabric that is folded in half then gathered in the middle section only. This allows the finished edges to hang in a circle at the bottom. The finished edges do not come up near the face. They have much less fullness than the standard cut veils because there isn't as much fabric gathered.
These veils are ONLY available in 2 layers
Go to veilshop.com and you can get alot of info on that site.

Minnie, I wore my gloves for the Mass only, afterwards, I took them off.I had a two teir elbow length waterfall veil-2 tiers made it 'pouffier' on top.
I also had a detachable cathedral length veil which I also took off later on (after some pics).

Re: Please Answer - Need Help
The rule of thumb is that long, cathedral length veils should only be worn with fuller skirted gowns. So if your dress is a ball gown or a full A-line you should go with cathedral for the drama. If your dress is a straighter cut, elbow length or even a bit is what is called for. That being said, I've seen brides in all kinds of dresses wear a cathedral veil and I've always thought it looked beautiful, so bottom line is do what you like best.I think it is really important to try on veils with your actual dress. As soon as I tried on veils with my dress I realized that the kind of veil I was envisioning in my head clearly was not work with my dress. It is easier to see what works when you have the actual dress on.
