Please define 'being flirtatious' for me

Please define 'being flirtatious' for me

Hi all!!!!

I have become really friendly with the fiance of my husband's co worker.

As our friendship blossomed she told me that her first impression of me was that I was too flirtatious and 'touchy feely'. I so laughed at this because I totally do not see myself like this.

I do consider myself a friendly person and when I greet someome I either do the hug/ kiss on cheek thing or I may touch a shoulder or something. DH says he knows what she is referring to, it does not bother him and he does not feel disrespected that is just how I am.

I guess I am totally oblivious to this, and I was shocked because no one has ever accused me of being flirtatious with their Man.

Please tell me what you think a woman would do to make you think she is flirtatious and has crossed the line?

I would call what you described, friendly - your personality. I would not consider it flirting.

I don't see anything wrong with flirting and I don't consider it going over a line. I think flirting is healthy and harmless.

However, hanging all over my FH and/or suggestively propositioning him, is going over the line. Chris respects me, so no matter how much someone flirts with him, it isn't going to cross a line.

I agree that physical contact can be considered 'crossing the line' as far as flirting goes... I'd be pi$$ed if anyone was hanging on my husband (not like I'd be afraid anything would happen, it's just inappropriate IMO).

I think it all depends on your specific personality. For me, the major thing would be treating the men differently than the women. If you are the same with her as you are with her husband, I wouldn't think anything of it. But, if you give her a cold shoulder and are all sweet and touchy feely with her husband, that might get her upset.

I agree with this too.

Some people confuse Fliriting with just being social and friendly. It's usually someone who grew up in an very reserved family and is not open with their feelings.

My very good friend once told me that I was flirting with her Boyfriend. It was quite a shocker! Meawhile i was just being friendly and saying hello. I gave him a hug while greeting him, judt like I did with everyone else. I mean, I know the guy for many years. She came around later on and realized that there NOTHING going on! She is a very reserved and I would even say uptight by nature, but after having me for a close friend for many years she came around!

Me and FH bumped into a female co-worker of his at a bar last weekend. When she saw him she hugged him. I thought that was odd - they don't even work in the same office on a regular basis. And I wouldn't hug a male co-worker unless we were really good friends.
I've met this girl a few times though and she's just one of those bubbly, social butterfly type people. I don't think she was flirting with FH at all when she hugged him - she was just being herself (plus I think the alcohol may have had something to do with it )

So maybe this woman takes your outgoing, friendly attitude as flirtatiousness.

I treat both males and females the same.

As is the case with this couple. If I hug and kiss him, I do the same with her.

My girlfriends always tell me that I give such a tight hug that I could kill someone

So I do not just single out the men.
