It's on my list of things to do this summer and I'm already having anxiety about it! Pierced ears and I do NOT get along but I can't see NOT wearing them on our wedding day!
I had them done when I was 4, TERRIBLE experience (even though i BEGGED my mom to get them done). They were always infected, no matter how many times they were cleaned, even with real gold. I think we tried every option under the sun.
Then I tried again in both 5th and 8th grade and pretty much had the same results!
going to give it one last try. They say your body chem. changes every 7 years so.....
Good luck! Hope it works out for you this time. The same thing happened to my gram...she tried as a kid and as an adult but it never worked for her, so she's always worn clip on earrings.

Good luck! I got all of mine done at random jewelers in the mall. Oddly, of my 7 earring holes (2 cartilate and 3 regular piercings in one ear, and 2 regular in the other ear... [what can I say I was an odd adolescent lol]), ONE of them gets infected still, constantly, even though I got it pierced 12+ years ago. I found that it gets infected less when the earring is not too tight, but then it kept falling out because the earring was loose so I stopped wearing an earring in it. But maybe try a small pair of hoops-- they will allow the piercing to breathe and heal properly and won't trap bacteria in like a stud would. Good luck!

I don't remember where I got my 1st holes from because I was like 12 but I got the one at the top of my ear done at one of the jewelry places in the middle of the mall. Hurt less than the normal holes did too!
And I wouldn't laugh, if I had to get them done again today I'd probably be chicken.
Did you try wearing something that clips on? Do they still make clip on earrings? Don't put yourself through pain and infections for one day. See if you can find clip ons, nobody will ever know!!

I had a really bad experience when I was a kid too. They literally had to cut the earring in half to get it out of my ear!! I had them pierced many years later, at Tri-County, upstairs at one of the jewelers and didn't have any problems that time

Ha! I thought I was the only one! FH bought me a pair of earrings for my birthday and I really want to wear them for the wedding. But I haven't worn earrings in at least 15 years and my holes closed! I'm going to a local jewelry store by me. The piercing is free but you have to buy the earrings from them.

I would not go to the mall!!!! They are so unsterile (mainly because they use a gun).
Go to a tattoo parlol instead.
And they still m ake clip on earrings as well!!!
By the way reading all these posts shows me how different we all grew up...in my family girls get their ears pierced when they are babies (around 3 months). And my mom even wanted me to get my nose pierced a lot earlier then I wanted too. I got the nose piercing at 17. She wanted me to do it at like14.

Re: please don't laugh when you read this but...
thanks for the input ladies!
I never entertained the idea of clip ons...they always made me think of the old lady across the street growing up who had countless pairs of big, ugly clip ons!
I'm sure style has come a long way since then so I'll have to end up checking them out if the real thing doesn't work again.
would have never thought about a tatoo parlor either for ears. Sounds like a cleaner option?

I had many issues with earrings. I had surgery on my ear TWICE to remove the backing of a earring. Apparently my skin grew over the earring backing (when I was smaller) and I had surgery to remove it.
I must have had my earring pierced like 7 times.
I got my ears re-pierced 7 years ago for my brother wedding and I have no issues
Good luck
If you need, I can hold your hand :)

try here. they seem to have come a long way with clip ons.
I went to the mall to get them pierced. I have the same problem with my earrings. They get infected all the time. I have to wear real gold or else they get red. Good luck!

I got my ears pieced at Rosanne's on Park Blvd in Massapequa Park. She is a jewler and everyone in there is super nice.
