Please give me some good reasons NOT to quit my job right now...

I am sitting here about to cry. I have REALLY had it. I have my Master's Degree and Senior Certification. I am treated like an idiot and the job is NOT was it is supposed to be. I have been here over a year and the job just gets more and more menial.

This issue of the moment is a $500 commission that I should be receiving because I am now doing someone else's job. He admitted that he screwed up and told me that he would give the commission. But, now his boss said no. And, my boss is still making me do his work and my work.

I just packed away all of my personal belongings because I seriously don't want to come back here ever again.

I can't help ya...I walked away from my job a few weeks ago...You're the only one who knows your financial responsibilities and who can set priorities..

Sorry you're miserable at works. That really does suck. Been there. PLENTY of times.

I would start looking elsewhere....and when you find another job.....get out of that one, if you're that miserable

I feel for you, I really do. Somedays I feel like just getting up and quitting too. The only problem is I have too much to lose right now just to walk away. I carry the medical and I get 401K and stock and my job helps pay for daycare. If I went somewhere else, I would have to make a substantial more to just pay for the daycare.
Maybe you can sit down with the boss and try and figure out WHAT are your duties. My boss has NO clue what our work entails because she has never done it so it is like talking to a wall with her.

Its best not to burn bridges although I know you want to go home and never come back. Can you afford to resign and start looking?

I agree with palebride...
You have been not happy there for a while now.

You have to update the resume and start REALLY looking elsewhere!

IMO...i wouldn't quit until i had some job possibilities!

I was a headhunter for 7 years and I agree on this one... Look for something else and then leave if you can... Good luck, i've been in the same boat and can say how great it feels to quit the job you hate and have something else to start...

I inderstand how you feel. I have been at my dead-end job where I get treated so poorly everyday for way too long. I have been actively looking since Sept and nothing. the only thing that keeps me going is the paycheck and most importantly the fact that the first week I am at a new job I will be laughing, instead of the crying I do now, about my stupid old job!

I totally know how you feel! I sometimes feel like walking out of my job because the work is menial, and it's just not what they told me it would be...sometimes I'm a glorified admin (not that there's anything wrong with that, but when you pay almost 100k for college and managed your department at your last job, you want a bit more than that.)

FH tells me I should quit all the time, but I need to the (crappy) money I make for all the extras I want for the wedding, it's what gets me through the day!

I have to agree as well. Trust me, I've had had a couple jobs that I was miserable with, but it looks a lot better if you hold out on quitting until you find a job replacement.
