Please help

Okay, I posted this to the 'Brides Helping Brides' section but nobody cares-maybe you other '06 brides will be more sympathetic (please??)-my fiance and I have only decided on the location so far. I just found out 2 days ago that we are moving out of state in a couple of months. So, I need to book EVERYTHING now-so much stress. I thought I had a year to plan but it turns out that I don't. Though we are stil getting married in April '06, I would like to book everything (at least the major vendors) before we go. Does anyone have any ideas on flowers, DJ or photos? Apologies in advance if it is wrong to post this here-I am new and just feeling overwhelmed at the moment...

Re: Please help

You aren't getting may replies because if you do a search for 'photographer' or 'dj' on eithe the BHB board or the '06 board, there are tons of posts on who people are using.
The search button is between the 'logout' and the 'help' buttons.

People will help with specific questions, what do people know about person x.

Re: Please help

calm calm calm...you have time, I am planning from out of state and i know others are too...it wont do you any good to get nervous because it will make you upset...

ok- I am not up to flowers yet...but plenty of girls are so i am sure people will help you out..

for a dj i know tommy tunes is fabulous and i heard long island sound factory- i think thats the name- the other night and they were SOOO much fun too

if you are thinking of a band- i am using heart and soul and i couldnt be happier with my decision I LOVE THEM!

Photographers- i am not going to lie- it is confusing cause it is sooooo important and everyone offers different things, I am in the process of looking right now and I know who i dont like...

video- i am using ray fro timless treasures

Do a search on possible vendors and you will get people's reviews and see who they are using

good luck!

Re: Please help

Look at the Bride's Review board as well as the Bride's Helping brides and the 06 boards. A lot of the girls here have posted in-depth reviews of who they're using or who they've visited.

You can also post on the Vendors Helping Brides board for specific package and and specials that the vendors offer. They'll usually Forum Mail you what they have and then you can compare that with some of the opinions the girls on the other boards have.

I'm currently planning from out of town and it's hard but it can be done.

Good Luck!

I'll try to bump some posts on BHB about different photographers, videographers, florists, etc. Keep an eye peeled for them.

Congrats and welcome!

Re: Please help

Take a deap breath........and im out of state as well....its not so stressful to plan....

if you need immediate help...go to the vendors helping brides and post what you need and get responses.

I have heard good things baout royalty limos...

im using a band....Renegade..and they're great!!

im using an out of state photographer (where are you moving, maybe they are near where you will be.....and that might be easier (and they are only asking for 150$ extra to travel which i thought was VERY resonable!)

FM (forum mail) me with any questions

Re: Please help

You can definitely do it! Just continue to search through the threads, look at the vendors websites, and be really efficient scheduling appointments! Just remember, anything that doesn't get done is ok. You still have time, even if you are out of state. Plenty of women on this site have arranged wonderful weddings out of state.

If you need any help with anyone specific, pleae let us know. I can recommend a few vendors that are reasonable:

Bill Minnick- photography (do a search on him for the 06 boards. I posted his prices a while back)
Signature florist- flowers. leese just booked him and Jessica M. liked them as well.

good luck!

Re: Please help

Hang in there! I'm trying to plan everything in the next 3 to 4 months. It's been stressful but LIW will help you a ton. There's such a wealth of information on these boards that I can't imagine having to go through this process without it. Definitely do searches with keywords... (photographers, reception, etc.) Also, like someone else mentioned, the reviews are really helpful too. You'll start noticing the same photographers being mentioned and the same reception halls, etc. Then you can search for those specific places by name.

If you want any information on the Roslyn Claremont Hotel or The Metropolitan, send me forum mail.

Also, just to get started on reception sites, www.weddingsitesandservices.com is a wonderful place to start. Some of the information is outdated but they have one of the most comprehensive list of reception halls in Long Island. They also link you to the websites.

Good Luck!

Re: Please help

If you're really in a rush and want to do this quickly then I'm going to suggest you going to a wedding center. There you can get a package deal for just about everything you need all under one roof. I'm getting flowers and photo/videography plus more at Wedding World. They're great, I've seen their work and they are all so nice and helpful! I know they have a DJ too. FM me if you want more info. Relax and breathe, this is can be done! And you're an 06er, don't apologize for posting, that's what we're here for!

Re: Please help

You should also do a search for 'atlantica' as many of us Atlantica brides (I was one of them) did pretty in depth reviews of all of our vendors out there. Hope that helps!
FWIW, I used Verdi for photo, Claire Beane for flowers and Eturnity for our band. Good luck - its defintely doable!

You can try places like Queens Bridal Center or Commack Wedding center or other places like that. They usually are one stop shopping and book everything with one place. Good Luck

Re: Please help

Im sure with the computer it wont be difficult to do things from out of town. Alot of the photographers and videographers, reception halls have DVD's they will send you to view their work. I've received a bunch of them. Also florists you really need to go by word of mouth and other's experiences. They too due to circumstances may fax you quotes if you send them what your looking for. DJ's again word of mouth and they will send you CD samples. You can also post here on the Vendors sites and they will FM you quotes. I've found alot of things from searches of old posts too, which are very helpful. Here are some vendors Im looking into: Florists, Pedestals in Mineola or National Wholesale Florists in Bellmore--DJ's, Starlight Express, In the Mix and Extreme Sounds--Im going to use Burtons for my gown for 2007 wedding and using the Bridal Shop for my Vegas gown. Anthony Cole for my hair(Vivian and Paulette)in Bellmore. Others Im not sure of yet sorry. Good Luck
