FH and I are considering a cruise for our Honeymoon but we have never cruised before & can't decide which cruise line. We would like to do 5-7 nights in the Bahamas or the Carribean. Also would you book it yourself or go through a travel agency. I spoke with an agent on yesterday who gave me rates on Royal Carribean. I live in Birmingham ,Alabama so we would sale from Orlando Florida or Jacksonville Florida. Any sugesstions would be appreciated.

I live in FL, we cruise every year. By far Carnival is best. They have food available 24/7, where as Royal Caribbean does not. Royal is noce, don't get me wrong. But Carnival is cheaper and lively. You can sale out of Pt. Canaviral or Tampa. For more info. on a travel agent FM me.

You can also sail out of NY too on Carnival. They have an 8 day cruise on the Miracle starting at $619. For Interior and $869. for Balcony. It's to the Eastern Caribbean.

Re: Please help
from my experience Princess is an older people, Royal is a mix (royal ia my fav), Carnival is a younger people. All had 24/7 buffet in addition to dining rooms and some have restaurants too depending on the boat. For me Pricess was a snooty crowd and carnival the party. Royal was a happy medium. Hope this helps

Re: Please help
I cruised on Carnival and loved it. However I have been told by people who went on the Carnival cruise that Royal was even better. Never been on Royal but if its better than Carnival you cant go wrong. I loved Carnival so much to do.

I've done Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and NCL. Carnival was my fav. Carnival was fun, lively, there was always something to do. NCL was nice, but the ship was smaller and there wasn't as much going on. Royal caribbean was nice, fancier than the others, but thats not really my taste and I felt Carnival offered more stuff.
HTH!

FH and I took Carnival from FL to Cozumel two years ago and it was awesome! Lots of young fun people and non-stop action! Highly reccommend it!

I've been on two Royal Carribean cruises and both were out of this world! The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding!

Re: Please help
FH and I have been on three Carnival cruises and one Royal Caribbean and just went on a Princess one a few weeks ago. Although Royal was the nicest ship and had some great stuff to do (ice skating, rock climbing, mini golf, ect.), we had a much better time on each of the Carnival ones. Carnival is more of a younger crowd and has a good night life. Royal was an older crowd and it was pretty dead at night. Princess was a really older crowd and by 11 pm there was no one around. There were only a few other couples that were near our age. The food was great on Carnival and almost as good on Royal. We didn't care for the food on Princess. As for booking you could use a travel agent or do it yourself. We have done it both ways and you will end up paying the same prices. One perk with using a travel agent that we got once was a bottle of wine waiting in our room for us. Good luck!

agreed! I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but its all about quality. I feel like Carnival is equivalent to a 2 or 3 star hotel, whereas Royal Caribbean or Norwegian would be a 4 star. Better food, better shows, better service, overall a better honeymoon experience.
When we were on Carnival, it was a lot of really loud, obnoxious, wild young people. I'm talking streakers on the top deck. I couldn't imagine spending my honeymoon on a ship like that. We paid the difference and will be on a Royal Caribbean ship. (Although Royal Caribbean is DEFINITELY not the best, it's a better fit for our honeymoon than some of the better lines - princess, celebrity, norwegian.)
And this is just my opinion, but I try and stay away from the Bahamas. There's actually VERY little to see and do there, and I didn't feel safe there.
