please help.

please help.

i am freaking out.

my dress shop (bridal couture, manhasset) just sent me a letter informing me that they are closing, will still fulfill orders (but my dressmaker will ship my dress directly to me and i can contact him), but can no longer provide alterations. they said they can refer me to a competent seamstress.

my alterations were capped at $250. also, i had to leave a 50% deposit upon ordering!!! i wonder how they work that... did they split the deposit with the dressmaker and would have split the BALANCE with him, too? or do you think they pocketed my entire deposit, and the balance is all owed to him???

i'm so confused. i'm worried. i was crying a little while ago because this is my DREAM DRESS and i'll be devastated if something goes wrong and i can't have it.

i have so many questions in my head, but i can't organize them all. i called the shop but they have a machine set up and said they'll return my call ASAP. i also called the dressmaker (it's custom-made) but he's out of town until monday, so i left a message.

i don't know what to ask of whom when i finally get a hold of someone. please, if anyone has any suggestions, do share.

thank you.

Re: please help.

I'm so sorry!! There are quite a few posts about this today. Try doing a search. most of the girls said the dresses were being straight to them from the manufacturer. Also, as far as arlterations there are many people that can do that for you. i'm sure that you can work something out and it shouldn't be over 250. Good luck!!!!

P.S. you shouldn't lose the 50% you put down I'm sure that is applied to your dress. almost 100% sure. Try not to stress too much.. i know it's hard.

Hi -
Talk to your designer. Some are willing to make the atlerations .
The 50% is credited towards the dress and you pay the balance when the dress arrives.

Hope this helps.
