Please Help!!

Hello ladies!!
I need some serious help. FH and I were originally going to be getting married at my family church. Since I am catholic and FH is not, It was difficult from the start. We decided to look into getting married at a community church and everything was going smoothly until they told us the time we would have the ceremony. There is going to be about a 4+ hour span between the ceremony and the reception. I feel like this is a little excessive. I have tried to make myself feel better by saying 'this will give us a lot of time for pictures! and also will give our guest some time to check into their hotels!' I cant wrap my head around having my guests sit around doing nothing for 4 hours!

Does anyone have any suggestions on community churches, non-denominational or just about anywhere!!! Everything we try to do just seems to blow up in our face. At this point we will be having a beautiful reception... but no ceremony! HELP!

TIA!

Can you get married at your reception hall?

It is always a possibility, but one I rather stay away from. Although the Fox Hollow is a BEAUTIFUL place, they are telling me that my wedding would still start at 8. Meaning my ceremony would start at 8 and the cocktail hour would start at 8:30 and the wedding would end at 1:30. They aren't willing to budge on changing the ceremony time!!! They just say, 'The wedding will start at 8 no matter what you do!!' I feel like that is terribly late or is that just me?

I'm having an interfaith wedding too. The catholic church will marry you as long as neither of you have been married before basically. there may be other small things but it was pretty smooth sailing for getting an interfaith marriage. finding a church is so stressful though!!! I definitely was having major panic and issues with that. especially if it's not your parish. some churches are so strict!

You do have to do pre-cana though too.
good luck!!!

Also if you stay where you are, 4 hours is not a big deal. There is driving from church to reception, pictures at the church, you can take them with all your guests and that would be nice, possibly changing for guests at hotels/check in...

you can always ask the church to make an exception and bump it to later in the day.

good luck!

Well, don't panic... I would not like the late ceremony start either.

If you are open to getting married somewhere other than a church, have you considered a park? You may need permits, but you will have lots of control over time. Here's some ideas...
