Please help a Jewish girl out..who is Lady of Snows??

Someone today was telling me about Our Lady of Snows a patron saint who she prayed to when our friend was dying. He died during Our Lady of Snows sign or something.
Can someone please explain this to me? I tried googling it and I saw something about a festival but that's it. TIA

Maybe it was not Our Lady but it was definitley a Patron Saint with the name Snow.

Devotion to Mary under the title of Our Lady of the Snows dates back to the middle of the 4th century. According to legend, on the hot, sultry night of in that year, Our Lady appeared to a childless, wealthy Roman couple in a dream. She expressed a wish that a church be built in her honor in Rome. She told them that a sign indicating the site for this church would follow.

On the same night, she also appeared to Pope Liberius in a dream and told him she wanted a church built on Esquiline Hill, that she would leave a sign. The next morning the Holy Father rushed up the hill and there --- in a perfect rectangle --- snow had fallen. All Rome proclaimed the summer snow a miracle, and the couple used their wealth to help build the church.

This wonderful miracle happened on a very hot morning on the 5th of August, 358 AD. On the feast day of Our Lady of the Snows, white rose petals are dropped from the ceiling of this church in honor of the event.

Thank You So Much!!
