Please help!!! Does this sound stupid?( finished, I think)

I am trying to write my vows and I am having a little difficulty getting what is in my heart and mind onto paper. I need your opinions please.

David, today is the day that I always hoped would come. Through the turmoil and the bliss I always felt that together we work. Over the past 4 and 1/2 years you have opened my eyes and heart to a happiness I never imagined. For this I not only love you , but I thank you. Thank you for your comfort, support, sense of humor and opening your heart and world to mine.

I believe that we enter into this marriage knowing that life changes. The test of love is not in avoiding change, but navigating through it successfully. I know we have the skills to weather any storm and reveal in the calm.

I promise to you in the company of our closest friends and family to be faithful and honest. To share my fears, hopes, sorrows and triumphs. I promise to walk by your side for all the days to come. Let us spend our lives together leaving behind our limited works and begining our journey together. I love you.


Does what I have sound silly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it sounds silly at all. I think they are beautiful vows! It's realistic and romantic at the same time (usually hard to do together).

not cheesy at all! (and I think everything is cheesy) It's so sweet!

IMO, opening with this is the day I knew would come sounds a little dark. Maybe you might want, hoped or longed for.

Thank you for that advice. Re-reading it I agree.

Thank you all for the support. I know that there is a fine line between sweet and cheesy. I just needed reassurance that I had not crossed it.

Totally got the chills! It's SO not cheesy - it's beautiful!

I think its perfect! There wont be a dry eye in the house though.
