Please HELP-I am SO UPSET!

We just got our wedding DVD and raw footage. I was watching the raw footage---which I actually enjoy more than the edits and my DVD player is broken or something since it is now stuck inside---it either won't open or when it does open, does not have the disc. I am freaking out since I don't know if my videographer has another copy of the raw footage--it sounds silly but the raw actually means more to me than the edited copy.

DOes anyone know WHERE (or what type of place since I am not on LI) to take DVD players to get fixed and if it's possible to get the DVD out unharmed? Please HELP!!!

Where did you get it from? I would take it back to the store and see if they can get it out.

I have no idea---it was a gift sooo many years ago!

I'm sure if you took it to Best Buy or PC Richards or someplace like that and tell them your sob story (lay it on thick!) they'd help you out. Puppy dog eyes and a sad face work wonders!!

This may work. Unplug the DVD player-wait 10 secs then plug it back in. Sometimes that works.

Thanks girls....keep the ideas coming..I am home doing work and took a break to watch and now i am useless!!!!

at least it's not a VIDEOTAPE, like the olden days, where you had to worry about destroying the actual 'tape'. I'm sure the dvd is fine... it's just a matter of getting it out. Bring it to a TV repair shop or something... I'm sure they'll do it. Then go buy a new DVD player!

Didn't work---won't open at all now

Grab a screwdriver and start taking it apart from the bottom. It isn't very hard. Just unplug it first! If you know anyone good with computer hardware, ask them to help. Good luck!

shake the dvd player...do you hear it moving around? maybe if you shake it enough it will fall back into the dvd slot on its own....

I agree with shaking the thing-but taking the thing apart is not hard especially the older ones.

Thanks----probably wll let DH handle it later (our DVD< VCR< cable box, sound system are all connected so hard to get it out) and try to not worry until then.

UPDATE: DH just got the DVD out---off to buy a new DVD player and hopefully the disk is ok--thanks all!!
