Please Help info on Raphael and Wolffer

Hi Everyone. We looked at Raphael and Wolffer vineyards this weekend. I've found every review that has been listed on the website but what I am really wondering is how they suggest you set up the location for the reception.

For example, Wolffer is beautiful but we probably have too many people for the location but I'm assuming that the dance floor would be inside? If this is the case, how did you handle the band and announcements, first dance etc?

At Raphael we were having the same thoughts. Do you set up the dancefloor in the ballroom or in the tasting room? If in the tasting room, how do you coordinate the dancing and music. We want a sit down dinner so we aren't sure how the evening will flow if this is the case. any suggestions?

For those of you that have had your wedding at these locations I'd be interested in seeing how you set up the venue.

I love Pellegrini, but we've been to a wedding there and we would like to do something different. We are aware of the site fee but at this point I'm not that concerned with that unless we have to set up a separate tent.

Please respond if you have any information that would help.

I love both of those vineyards unfortunately, I'm not sure of layout! I am having a vineyard theme wedding and decided to go with the Vineyard Caterers because it's their forte to put together events and I didn't have to worry about the dance floor etc. You should check it out. I loved it!

Thanks! When we were at Wolffer they had a plaque/award from the knot. I can't remember the exact wording. It made me think they must be doing something right, but who knows? I'll check out Vineyard Caterers. Thanks.

Im not having my wedding at either but ive been to a wedding at Raphael and the bride and groom got married on the stairs inside ( it was november) then the cocktail hour was held in the main area when you first walk in which i guess is the tasting room and then the separate room was for dinner and dancing...it was very lovely its a beautiful place! hth

binx214...thank you! How many people do you think attending the wedding. We will be over 100. Do you think you could do the dinner and the dancing in the ballroom if say we had 180 people? We are hoping for September and are going to have a church wedding so that isn't a problem.

Oh yeah, they are def. doing something right for sure!! I've seen them put great events together!!! I just chose Vineyard Caterers because there wasn't an event site fee and I didn't have to worry about rentals etc. I think if you choose wolfer or raphael it would be great.

Thanks Napa! I'm sure it would probably be great. I don't want anyone to feel cramped though. Where are your guests going to be staying? My concern about the North Fork is that there is so much time driving involved between locations. The church we are looking at is in Southampton. I don't want any one to complain about how far everything is.

I'm pretty sure it was between 150 and 170 and we definitely were not cramped at all! The dinner and dancing were all in that one room and the buffet was set up outside in the cocktail area it was really nice

My guests are staying at the best western and the holiday inn express in Riverhead. The church we're using (not my parish church) is Our Lady of Ostrabrama in Cutchogue. Basically, I had to get a letter of freedom from my parish to be married there. Are you just interested in a vineyard wedding? I believe there are some south shore vineyards, if I am not mistaken, I think Duck Walk is on the south shore.... We wanted to do a vineyard theme bc we were engaged in Napa. HTH!!!

Thank you for the replies!

We looked at Duck Walk but weren't that impressed with the location. We looked at Wolffer on the South Shore and that would be my number 1 but...we aren't sure how many people they can handle. The information that we have say's 125. We think that probably isn't the best option because you also have to rent all the chairs tables etc. that come included at Raphael.

I absolutley love Macari. Their Early Wine has got to be my favorite. Anyway, I didn't think they held much more than 90 people? Let me know if I am wrong.

If anyone else knows another vineyard that we should check out let me know. We've looked at:

Osprey's
Pellegrini
Wolffer
Raphael
Bedell
Channing Daughters (they don't host weddings)
Old Field
Macari
Martha Clara
Duck Walk
Pindar
Dilberto's
Vineyard 48
Roanoke
Palmer

Thanks again for the help!
