Please HELP!! LOST DOG!! in Baldwin Area!

My girlfriend just moved to Baldwin area...pretty close to the Nautical Mile. Unfortunately her dog got out of the backyard and he hasn't been back since last nite. The kids are heartbroken and she has no idea what to do and doesn't know the area too well just yet.

Can anyone please give me information on where she would need to call locally for the dog?

I believe he's some type of maltese mix -- he has all white hair that can get pretty mangled when its not properly groomed, so they keep him cut pretty short usually. He is a very friendly and jumpy and loves people.

PLEASE if you have seen this dog or can put the word out---my friend really really wants to find him!

He answers to 'Happy'
He is in between groomings--and his hair grows fast....so here are 2 pics of him....one when hes ungroomed and the other when he is.

**He was last seen around 7:30pm last nite with a green shirt on him that said 'Wanna be Doberman'***

If you see him PLEASE FM me!!!!

I hope someone finds him! Make sure your friend alerts all the vets in the area, as well as the shelters. People sometimes pick up a dog thinking its a stray and then take it into the vet to make sure it's healthy.

is happy microchipped? if so, your friend might want to contact the company, as well as all the local shelters to be on the lookout. I hope they find the poor little guy

Awww! I live in Baldwin (not around the nautical mile though) but I will keep my eyes open.

When my dog got out of the backyard I called all the Vet places in the area, there are a few in Baldwin, Rockville Centre and Freeport. Someone called one of those places and they brought my dog to the Town of Hempstead Shelter - where you should also call. Good Luck!!!!!

I would contact the shelters anyway. you never know - plus sometimes there are ppl who work for rescue organizations who can post the dog on their site. if she hasn't done so already, maybe she should put together a poster including those pics, last place seen, and her contact info (maybe create an email address specifically for this)

ETA - I might place a poster somewhere on the Baldwin and Freeport train stations. so many ppl travel through there - you never know

Contact all vets, shelters, neighbors, etc...!!!!
He's too cute and i'm sure someone has him safely but just doesn't want to give him back.
I would die if I lost my dog, he looks just like that!!!
Good luck I hope this is a happy ending. Please keep us posted

All dogs that are picked up as 'strays' in Baldwin, Freeport, and the surrounding area go to the Town of Hempstead shelter in Wantagh. The # there is 785-5220. Even if you call, I would still go over there and check. They have over a hundred dogs and can't always keep them straight.

Definitely call all the local vets and private shelters in the area. Sometimes people drop dogs off their as well.
