Sooooo I've been waiting for months now for it to get warm so that we can do our engagement pictures...I really was dying to have them done at Adventureland. I wanted them done by the end of May because I know June is going to be insane and I want the epics to make our table #s.
Of course, I just called Adventureland and they are CLOSED that day!!! UNLESS it rains on April 30th (they have an event going that night for which our epic day is the raindate). So, if by some miracle it rains on April 30th, then everything is fine.
BUT...in the unlikely event that it rains that day...I need an alternative!!! I am DYING for that sort of 50's feel, amusement park pictures...but, I don't know of any other amusement parks!!! Does ANYONE have any suggestions of where we could shoot??
I can't believe they aren't open...I almost literally looked like this when they told me

You could do Flushing Meadows Park in Queens... they have that giant globe in the middle of the park from the World's Fair, I've seen people taking pictures there for their weddings and stuff... I know it's not like the amusement park idea but it's cute. Lots of areas where you could take pics.

OR!!.... you know what else you could do? You could find out when all the carnival/fairs are coming around, like to area churches and then the towns sometimes have their own. They would have the whole set-up and I think that would work perfectly. Cotton candy, small time roller-coasters, spinning tea cups... I'd try to find out when fairs are happening and see if there are any on 4/30.

u can also go on bestofli .com website ,..and see if there are any carnivals going on around town.. if u get there early u can have the same feel as adventureland..and its freee.. games, rides, cotton candy
ETA- get ythere early b4 the big crowds get there

What day is your eshoot? the 30th?? see if you can find a website that lists any upcoming carnivals... i just tried checking, but need to shut down the computer.

We are doing the same kind of feel for our engagement pics, 40's 50's, because we want to do replica pictures of some that my grandparents too at Coney Island when they were dating. We are using our pictures as our table #'s too! Coney Island could definitely work if your willing to go that far!

Theres an indoor nathans/fun zone right up the road from there. http://www.onceuponatreetop.com/ in Plainview and by the smithhaven mall theres sports plus but i dont think thatwhat your really lookin for.
if you wanted vintage inspired pics, theres the [L=http://www.vintageloungelive.com/about.htm] its a small place in levittown kinda sucky but interiors is decorated all bossa nova like

or central park zoo carousel.. and then see if u can take pics inside Carnival in the city..its bowling..but its 5 floors and its an actual carnival..INDOORS

There's an antique carousel at Hempstead Lake State Park. There's a $50 permit fee. We took some of our e-pics there.
Bayville has an 'adventure park'. It's not really an amusement park, but might make for some nice photo ops.

There's also a carousel in Forest Park - not sure if it's still in operation, but I'm sure that you can find out on the internets, and then a short drive (like, 5 minute drive) from there is Eddie's Sweet Shop, a cute 50's style ice cream place. Maybe they'll let you guys take pics there?
