Please help me.... (a little long)

to not be jealous.. Please dont' judge me. I'm not a bad person, I'm just feeling left out a little bit...

I am so frustrated bc I don't want to be jealous! FH's cousin just got engaged right around Easter.

I am VERY happy for them.

Since FH and I didn't really have an engagement party when we got engaged (or even an engagement DINNER from FILs -- even though FBIL and his FW did), we had a 'meet the family' part last week at my sister's We had to keep it small bc it was at her house, etc... We invited over 60 people. Not even everyone RSVPed... We ended up with 35 people (including both of our families and the two of us -- not included in the original count). It basically ended up being most of the BP, our immediate families, and 2 or 3 aunts and cousins from each side.

Today, we are going to an engagement party for FH's cousin and they are having 80-100 people!!!!!!!!! A lot of these people are the same people we invited to ours.

I'm not mad, I'm JEALOUS... SO JEALOUS...

It just seems like for US, nobody wants to go out of their way.... FH won't let me be upset -- I think bc he's feeling the same thing in a way. When I tried to talk to him about it, he said 'don't make me hate my family....'

I'm just sad. I know I shouldn't be comparing, but it's so hard not to when everything is so close..... and it's some of the same family.......

Is there any sort of possible explanation? Like did the family maybe have a prior commitment or anything for the day of yours???

I wouldn't be jealous. If they couldn't have the decency to respond, who the hell wants them there anyway?

Don't be jealous, you're still gonna have a beautiful wedding regardless of what they do on his side of the family. No worries! You have too much on your plate to add this too!

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I would be upset too though. But your day will be amazing- just think about that!

I really appreciate all your words. I know that my day will not compare and isn't even about EVERYONE ELSE!!! It's just hard to get excited for others when it doesn't feel like the same people weren't excited for us.....

I totally understand and am in somewhat of a similar situation.. I can't really tell you anything that will make you feel better because I know that feeling just suxs. Just try to focus on the good.

UPDATE!!! Stupid me. I got totally drunk (nobody was drinking the white wine so I took the bottle for myself... it was kind of like BYOB for the table...

Glad you made the most of the party. You have every right to feel how you please.
