Please help me choose my venue

I need help choosing between the Harbor Club and the Venetian Yacht Club. Both are on the water, which I want but VYC is more per person. I am hoping that its worth it b.c its beautiful. I would appreciate any advice.

My girlfriend went to a wedding at VYC and had nothing but good things to say. I don't know anything about Harbour Club but check out the boards (brides review) You can get better insight on some brides that have used them

My wedding was July 26th at the Harbor Club. It was amazing.
The staff will bend over backwards for you and accomodated us before, during and after the wedding. There were a few things on the cocktail hour stations that wedidnt want- they happily changed it. We added another station to the CH and it was so reasonable to do so. Words cannot say enough about them. My guests are still calling my parents and in-laws to rave about it.

I recommend them 10000000000000 times over.

If you have any questions, FM me

Re: Please help me choose my venue

I have been to both (although not to VYC for any weddings in a while) and my pick would be Huntington Harbor Club...the reasons are because I found the food to be inconsistent at VYC. One party it was terrible, dry and no flavor, and another party is was very very good. I also wanted my wedding on the water and I didn't check them out purposely for that reason...this is JMHO, I think you should go for tastings at both if you haven't yet to help you make your decision. Again, I haven't been to any weddings in a while at VYC so maybe it's different for weddings!!! Feel free to FM me for more info if you want to!

VYC is beautiful and food was good when I was there for an event. This was our #2 choice for our venue.

Re: Please help me choose my venue

I've been to only VYC, so can't help with the Harbor Club. I only went for my own appointments though. The first time was beautiful, on a sunny day, set up for a wedding, goregeous. I haven't had experience with the food, but had heard mixed things. The price is definitely high, so it was a concern to take that chance, but the place was so nice that I was almost willing to take it.

Then we went back with FIL's to show them, during one of the many weekend monsoons we've been having. Was treacherous to get there, room was leaking from ceiling, wasn't set up for a wedding so wasn't even allowed to walk in to room (had to look in from door for 'insurance reasons'), and we realized how important it is to have a nice day to have the full effect.

It's definitely taking a chance, IMO.

I am a VYC Bride to be- I negotiated with them to get a Saturday Night in June which I did not think I could do - SO try to talk to them.

Also reason I booked there was because I know a few people that have been to weddings there and did nothing but rave about evreything, food, scenary, service.

Good Luck

I was a Harbor Club bride and loved them. The grounds, food, service were all perfect. See my review or feel free to FM me.

Re: Please help me choose my venue

I'm a VYC Bride, so, biased, of course. I wanted a wedding on the water, and only really looked at 4 places, the Harbor Club among them. Honest opinions:

I got a great deal at the VYC for a Saturday night at the end of March. Family members recently went to a wedding there and raved about the food and service. Since then, I have heard (not on this site, but from random people) that the food is amazing. That was my biggest concern. On this site, I have heard some mixed reviews, but my tasting was phenomenal, so I'm just going to trust them. The view is incredible, and the rooms are really lovely, if that's your style. I just kind of got that princessy feeling there. Now if only it doesn't monsoon!!!

I didn't get the same feeling at the Harbor Club. Granted, it was beautiful- that view of the Harbor is just unreal. My cons were: you had to overlook a bit of parking lot in front of the harbor. (in all fairness, there's a parking lot outside of the VYC that you can see from the room, and it drives me up the wall, but I'm kind of getting over it). I know people who have gone to weddings there, though, and no one has mentioned it, and I have heard raves. Matt the BM there is really on top of his game. But there was just something about the room that wasn't particularly my style.

End of the story is, I think both places are pretty evenly matched. I think that the real difference is personal style. The VYC is more ...gold?? There's lots of gold stuff everywhere. I don't know. The Harbor Club seemed more modern. And at that point, it's just personal taste. But I honestly don't think you can go wrong at either.

I forgot to mention- if you're taking pics mainly at the venue, the Harbor Club does have that great backyard area for pics. Not so many places at the Venetian for pics, except for the patio area on the water. Just seemed like more of a variety at the Harbor Club. However, I'm taking my pics elsewhere, so it wasn't much of a factor.

Re: Please help me choose my venue

my sister got married at the harbor club and it was phenomenal. The food was amazing, the view was beautiful, the rooms are awesome and the staff was wonderful! I have been to VYC a few times (including looking there for my own wedding) and I wasn't happy with the food or service. When I met with them about our wedding they were kind of rude to us so we went elsewhere immediately. Every vendor has bad days so it could have been one of them, but i definitely still recommend harbor club!
