Out of nowhere my laptop went from working normally to showing the green icon on the bottom toolbar and saying 'Connected, [our network], excellent' but not actually connecting. It says 'trying to connect...' and then 'disconnected' on the bottom of my outlook window and websites are unable to connect.
It suggested it might be a firewall problem but i changed my firewall settings around and nothing fixed it.
Anyone? I'm going to try to see the computer help people at school but it's really frustrating... i don't think i changed anything on my laptop that would make this happen all of a sudden!

did you try restarting the router? modem? Mine does that sometimes and it usually connects again when I unplug both those things for about 30 secs

when I have a problem with internet overall that usually is what fixes it but i'm on our crappy old desktop now which is working, and my laptop is also saying it recognizes the wireless and is connected. it's just not ACTUALLY connecting.
i think its a problem with my laptop and some of the settings?

My brother says never pay attention to that. That would always happen to me and he said that is not right all the time. I was always getting annoyed. I would get cut of online and when I would look at the same thing it would say excellent connection. So I told my brother, who knows everything about computers, and he said don't go by that.

I'm back online on my laptop!! after 40 min at the computer help center at my law school i'm back on LIW
it turned out to be a problem with one of my firewalls... but not the windows firewall, it was the firewall for my computer's security system? something like that. now i know how to fix it! thank god thanks for all of the help ladies!
