First off- you girls really helped me last night and I cant thank you enough. This decision has to be made and i thought it wouold be easier. I was ready to get the patchogue apartment (described below #2) but went to see one more we wanted to look at and now im stuck again! I went to see the apartment where my parents used to live - woodhull gardens.
#1 The apartment is just under 1000 sq feet. Rent is cheaper pets ok - has a pool. sep dining area and eat in kitchen - bed is 15x14. Huge pantry and linen closet - the bathroom dates back to 1981 - ill post pics later. The grounds are ok - nut kept up as well as the other one. Cabinets are old, but appliances are new. Large balcony - but older - wood and metal. Super is ok - just doesnt care - you know...WOODHULL GARDENS is the name.
#2 The fairfield on the bay in patchogue is 250 more a monththan the other apt. 750 sq feet. New cabinets and appliances. Its waterview. Has tennis court. Balcony is private and its new. All new and beautiful grounds. SUper is super nice. OVer all this is better maintained by far.
We are def afford the first one. Larger, but im not happy cosmetically. But should that matter?
The second one i was supposed to put in an app. tonite, it would be really tight with the rent, after we all discussed last night how to budget again thank you
if i could i would take you all out for drinks!
Which should we put in the app for?????

WE JUST PUT IN AN APPLICATION FOR FAIRFIELD ON THE BAY
Jason and I spent sometime in the empty apartment - and it just felt right. I felt comfortable. I find out tomorrow night - please wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally think you need to like where you live and it dsounds like you're hesitatn about WoodHull.
I've passed by WoodHull and I thought the same thing you did about the grounds.
It's up to you though...but my vote is for Farifield.

If you are already having issues with the one place- go with the other one TRUST ME. It may be more expensive, but once the wedding is over you'll have a lot of extra money that you don't have right now. You will learn to budget better more quickly when you don't have a choice.

well if you were buying, i would say pick the perfect one, but since you are renting, you may want to take the less expensive one and put the rest of the money away to get a down payment for a condo or house. jmo

Thanks - the only thing is square footage. Fairfield is 750 and Woodhull is 900+

Well on a good note, you are only renting so even if you are signing a lease you can always leave in the future. However, do you have time to still look? I would do that, but if you really need to get into a place right away my vote is for Fairfield. It sounds bigger and nicer. South Shore has great beaches so even without a pool you will still have water. I know you mentioned the rent is more, but in the long run you may be happier if you find a way to make it work.

Ok - i know which one it is - i would say really think about the location - where you'll be doing food shopping etc.
To be honest -- i always go with my gut -- and it seems like your gut is saying fairfield.
after looking at these pics, I vote definitely no for woodhull gardens! I see how this is a tough decision though...paying $250 for a smaller place...but you have to be able to live comfortably, I put that above everything, you want to actually be able to look forward to going home at night, that should be your sanctuary...so if you have to pay $250 more for that and you can comfortably afford it, I say go for it..

The apartmetn I saw this morning wasnt that bad- but it wasnt 100% either - you kno? Some things really needed to be replaced or updated!

Good choice w/ the Patchogue apartment. My uncle lived there for a few years when I was young and he loved it. I remember crabbing on the docks there with random people who lived in the complex - very laid back feel. Who knows what the people are like now, but the setting is gorgeous.
Can't really get better than 'sitting on the dock of the bay.' Just a thought. I think you'll be very happy with your choice.
