Please help me find a new job :-(

I never really vent on these boards b/c I'm semi-private in that sense but I am at my wit's end with this job and seriously will have a break down soon. The whole company has a salary increase freeze yet the work is RIDICULOUS in quantity. I am a contract underwriter/Financial Analyst and want a CARREER CHANGE!!!!!

How do I do this? Any HR people out there. I love to coordinate things and will start looking into marketing coordinator, Human Resource rep, etc....

Any leads are MUCH appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Curly,

I have been going through the same thing for quite awhile. I am very serious about swtiching my career. I just finished an awesome book about people who have struggled with this question. It is called 'What shoud I do with my life' by Po Bronson.

I am at the point now where I know what I want to do - training/OD - what I need to do now is figure out how to break into this field? (Anyone do training/OD out there).

So if you need someone to talk to FM me - I am very familiar with this subject!!

I am so sorry to hear that things are crappy at your job. I dont know if you are interested in working in NYC, but my assistant gave her notice on Monday, so we are interviewing for an assistant account executive (advertising) position. I will email ya w. more info

Me too!! I want to switch careers!! Which ****s since I went through law school and am seriously in debt b/c of it. Does anyone know of anything else I could do with this stupid JD degree?

Curly...I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but there is a job opening at my FFIL List Marketing company. The office is in Farmingdale and the position is for a List coordinator. If you want more info FM me. I just checked the website and saw the posting.

Karina NYC is not far from you and where your new home is. I take the LIRR everyday and you get used to it. Don’t miss an opportunity to do what you want to do b/c of that.

Karina sweetie - I totally understand what you are going through.

I am miserable at my job since my boss left - not liking the new boss too much and the politics around here are unbelievable.

I tell myself after the wedding I'll make a change. Maybe you and I could take some classes together or something!!!

Aww, you ladies are so unbelievably sweet!!!!!!Thanks!!!

My company is VERY Corporate Amercia. Only a handful of women work here and while that doesn't bother me, the politics are OUT OF CONTROL!!!!! Everyone is out for themselves and no one works as a team. You get rewarded with more work and longer hours. A co-worker of mine recently stayed for 26 hours straight b/c a deadline HAD to be met. No one offered to help and the managers nodded 'good night'. Because we are all salaried employees we don't even get OT!!!! It's just out of control.

2 people quit this week (for their sanity) and managers held a meeting stating they would not be replaced due to budget constraints. Rather, the work would be distributed anongst the remaining employees

Sorry to vent, (alot) but it has helped me today. Thanks!!!!
