Me and my FH had decided to go to europe for our honeymoom......but I have been searching for prices and its so expensive, after this wedding is over w're going to be over our heads with bills and I really dont want to start our life like that....... but we have been dreaming of this ever since he proposed to me that was our dream... We've been together for 6 1/2 years....I was 16 years when we started dating.
Have any suggestions?
p.s. I also looked into a cruise to europe maybe that would've been cheaper being you would go back to the boat after every port you visit..... please help.....

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
I thibnk Europe is very expensive right now due to the deflation of the american dollar. This was something we considered for our honeymoon, but it was more than we wanted to spend! try travelzoo.com! They have soem great last minute deals for europe!

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
I will say Europe is expensive especially the time you get married. We did Italy for 16 days from June into July for our HM and it did cost a bit but not too crazy IMO and worth every penny. I will say the price does depend on the level of hotel you choose in many of the cities. A tour would have been much cheaper but my DH hates them so we did it on our own. Our HM was also to be something really special, together 10 1/2 years before our wedding. We did however start a savings account years ago for a house fund that did help with the HM too.
I would definitely research on fodors.com, tripadvisor.com and try the Rick Steves books (tell you how to save, reviews of hotels (some give discounts if you mention his book)) and contact hotels directly, you can get better prices that way. Tell them you are HM'ers', one hotel gave us an extra 15% off. Many of the hotels I wanted the TA could not book through and if he was able it was so much more than what I was quoted. Even our airfare was cheaper through cheaptickets than the TA. The biggest cost was the hotels. We saved in country by not eating in fancy restaurants every night and ate at many local places where the tourists didn't always go (we like to blend in, if that’s possible ) ). Lunches were picnics and we didn't go crazy on souvenirs.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
I would look into doing a cruise (www.vacationstogo.com) or go on a tour. I know a tour may not be the most romantic thing, but you will see lots of places and it's usually cheaper than doing it on your own. I have been on a Contiki tour and I had the best time. They're a tour group that caters to younger people, 18-32 I think, so it's not like you'll be stuck on a 'retirement tour.' You should check it out.

we're going to Europe for our Honeymoon (in 3 1/2 weeks!!). London and Paris.
We're doing it ourselves, but try to check into tours, sometimes you can find it to be cheaper as a package like that

Hey, how long will you be in Paris? We are going there for over a week starting near the end of Nov – that would be so neat if we bumped into each other hehe. Please FM me!
As for the original poster, there are such incredible deals these days and all it takes is knowing the best sources that are highly rated. Everyone gave great advice but if you want specific ways to stretch the most trip for the least $$, send me an FM too please!
I definitely know my stuff - we've started planning for 5 weeks in Italy (3 of them without a group tour) and also the Paris trip!
Good luck!

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
you should definitely stick to a Med. cruise. I would have LOVED to do that for my HM, but Nov is not the right time for that
one great thing about the cruise is that your meals are included, so you don't have to worry about most of your meals, because you know when you go to places in Italy you will absolutely want to eat there
go for Europe! don't worry about the $, you'll make more

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
Try looking at Rail Europe... I took my mom to italy two years ago and we stayed at 1st class hotels, got our plane tix, transport between the cities by rail, and a tour in each city. For 10 days it was roughly 4000... only thing it didnt include was lunch and dinner..Rail Europe

We're going to Costa Rica. The hotels I've found are amazing. You have to like adventure though. Everyone we know who's been there has loved it.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME PICK MY HONEYMOON!!!!!
Go on a European cruise, you can find a deal somewhere, just keep looking. It is something you don't get to do very often. If you go some place else, you will be upset that you didn't go to Europe. I would defiently do a cruise though, much cheaper. We are going to do this for are one year anniversary.
We are going to Hawaii for HM. We were going to go to Aruba to save money, but we said the heck with it. It is your HM!!!!!
