Does anyone know of any programs or retreats for people who are in grieving the loss of a loved one? I think my mom would benefit from this greatly. She loves the quiet of eother the beach or the mountains..just nature in itself and I think she would feel closer to God and her fiance if she could experience this. If you know of anything like this..can you please let me know. Thanks so much!

I don't know any retreats, but there are many bereavement and support groups available- maybe she should also try individual counseling.

I am not sure if it is just for divorced or also people how lost someone, but my mom used to belong to PWP---parents without parterns, back when my parents first got divorced. they do fmaily things like trips, etc, as well as adult only stuff, dances, etc. Maybe you could look into that and see if it applies

Many of the local hospitals and other places have berevement support groups. I think I'm actually going to be giving some a call for my mother (lost my step-father to cancer in March, 2 weeks before my wedding). I'm not sure of any retreats but some of these support group councilors may be able to direct you to one though.

Try a counseling service or Catholic Charities (or your own house of worship). There are programs out there.

i think there is a place in east northport called 'samanthas lit bit of heaven' that runs a support group. i saw it in the paper either yesterday or today. also, i would call south nassau if you are in nassau county. i know they have a lot of support groups.

Re: Please help my mom :(
I know when my mom and also when my dad passed away I took a bereavement group at The Plainview Y , and when my mom passed from Cancer I also took a free counseling group from Cancer Care. I hope this helps.
