Please Help: Taffeta

Please Help: Taffeta

I have finally narrowed down the bridesmaid dresses...I know I'm kind of cutting it close.....Impression Bridal 1346 (Picture 1) However I started looking at pictures of Taffeta dresses and some look like they've been chewed up and spit out. Anyone here wore or used Taffeta dresses for their wedding? How did it look? (Any pics?) My alternative is to go with satin (Picture 2) , but I am worried if its 95 degrees, they will be suffocating. Any advice from experience?

my bm's wore taffeta- Bill Levkoff # 557- in sable brown w/ a camel sash. I personally think taffeta looks better in darker colors. Its a very light fabric, which is good for July.....another option is chiffon- also very light & comfortable (I've worn it as a BM and loved it!!, I just didn't really care for it in brown).

good luck!! you can check out pictures in my album of some of Duet's pictures or my non pro pics. oh and btw, you're not really cutting it too close- we ordered the BM dresses in mid February and they came in by mid May.

Thank you so much. You're right the those dresses look great in darker colors, unfortunately I have to stick to light (long story) and basically out of all the color choices, the one the girl in the picture is wearing seems to be the closest. It's not very flattering on her and she is a model so I am wondering what taffeta would look like in the wedding pictures.

I'm using Taffeta for my BM. It's very light and great for a summer wedding.

Which company and what color are you using? (if you don't mind sharing)

I forgot who makes it but I think the first dress you posted is at the Wedding Plaza on Jericho Turnpike (right by Floral Terrace). maybe you can go check it out there? I was thinking more of a wine color I had considered in taffeta, it looked more berry-ish than what I wanted. I actually really liked that first dress if its the same one I saw at the Wedding Plaza. it just wouldn't have looked good on some of my pale bridesmaids.

Re: Please Help: Taffeta

I'm using tissue taffeta (I know there are a few kinds, satin-faced-taffeta, tissue taffeta, etc).

I started out with an open mind but decided I hated the way satin wedding dresses looked on me and felt they might look goofy for an afternoon wedding in August. I thought tissue taffeta looked much better with my dress (although I was open to satin for BM dresses as well).

My BMs fell in love with Bill Levkoff 555, and luckily they had a blue I liked. (pictures in my album)

I ordered a yard so I could get a better idea of color, and also tested it with some water. If you look really really closely you can see where the water was but it didn't do any major damage and hopefully my girls won't spill all over themselves. We're doing our pictures before the ceremony so everyone will look fresh at least in our posed pictures.

555! My BMs fell in love with that dress so we're going with it even though I probably would have otherwise picked strapless. Glad to hear you liked it and thanks for posting pictures... it's always nice to see what it looks like on real people (my BMs are tiny and the sample was about 8 sizes too big on all of them)
