FH and I live in NJ and attend a church here. However, our reception is at the Bourne Mansion. We have been trying to find a church on LI that will allow us to hold our ceremony with our Pastor officiating and that expresses our faith, but to no avail. We are not Catholic, we are Protestant Christian (Assemblies of God denomination).
We considered having an outdoor ceremony on the grounds of the Bourne, but unfortunately the University that owns it is ABSURD and doesn't allow ceremonies performed on their property!
There is a small room in the Bourne that we are considering for the ceremony, but I'm afraid it's going to be too small for all of our guests.
Does anyone know of a church/park/location/whatever that can accommodate us!
PLEASE HELP! WE ARE FRUSTRATED!!!

I am so sorry you are having trouble. Unfortunately, I am not for the Long Island area so I have no idea. I just wanted to let you know that I care and I will pray for you to find the place of your dreams. I was in a similar situation and today I found the place of my dreams for 7/7/07. I asked him if it was a cancellation and he said its just been open. I am sure the same will happen for you.

I wish I could help! I'm sure something will turn up. Keep calling churches, public meeting areas, etc. Good luck!

I am not sure where Bourne is but have you looked into Old Westbury Gardens?

I got married at the community church of east williston. Reverend Fritz married and we NO problems. we were going to get married in a catholic church but they gave us grief and then decided that they were not going to marry 3 months before the wedding! Rev. Fritz gave us a beautiful ceremony. however, this church has donation fee.
eta: the community church of e. williston is also a non-denominational church as well!

You can try The Historic Chapel in Woodbury--they are non-denominational so bringing in your own pastor would be okay.

FH and I are having ceremony at the Nassau County Museum of Art.....There are other grounds like Old Westbury Gardens, and Planting Fields...there's also Bayard Arboretum. There are also museums and mansions along the way... Don't know where Bourne Mansion is but one thing to consider is location from ceremony to reception. That was one of the reasons for us having ceremony at Nassau Museum..it's 10 mins. from Leonard's.

Okay, I live in islip which is just around the corner from the Bourne, that I am also considering....I know there is a methodist and a prostant church in the are, main street, bay shore. I have never been inside but I am going to go by there tommorow, get the names of them and possible #s. If I can get inside, I will check them out for you and get back to you asap...Hope this helps....The Bourne Mansion is also very close to Dowling College, Vanderbilt Mansion, catered also by lessings. Ask Ben, if there is no one getting married at that mansion on your date, could you get married there outside for the same fee. If he can work with you, he will. There is also the planting aboretum close by Bayared Cutting Arboretum, I believe they will let you do a ceramony there, but I don't know about chair set ups. I'll get back to you soon, Keep in touch....Robyn
