My mom and I are going today and I only know of 2 places to go to. She's about a size 16-18 so I can't take her to places that I usually shop at. Help!!

I just responded in the 09 thread. Queen of Hearts in Merrick is wonderful. A little pricey but a very beautiful selection. That's where my Mom got her gown...

We got my mom's dress at My Daughter's Wedding II in Great Neck. When we went in, we told them we were looking for something $250 or under and we got a look from them... but then we found the perfect dress suit for $150!!!! We were very lucky. They certainly have a range there... My mom is a plus size (18-20ish) and they had lots of options and also tailor.
You might want to also try a department store.
We went about 4 months before the wedding so there would be plenty of time.

My mom got her dress at Bridal Suite of Centereach; they have a great selection. I would allow about 5 - 6 months to allow for the dress to come in and for fittings.

Totally You! has a nice selection, and the Mom's room in Village Bridal in Babylon also has quite an impressive range of dresses!

My mom found hers at the Bridal Salon in Macys in the Smithhaven Mall. the lady was super nice and patient and she couldn't be happier!
