please help with mathematical equation

please help with mathematical equation

I used to know how to do this...maybe someone can just show me?

OK - I am trying to figure out:

If something is 350 calories per 100grams
then how many calories would it be if it were just 35grams?

I think the equation would go

If x/335 = 35/100, then x = ???

But I don't know how I solve that. I used to.

I am really really bad at math. Like failed the regents 4 times in HS bad. Went to summer school for it 3 times bad. I suck at it.

Thanks in advance.

let's just say that it's less that 350 calories

Re: please help with mathematical equation

here's an easy way:

it is 350 calories fper 100 grams. so, divide
both by 100, & it is 3.5 calories per each gram.
so, if you have 35 grams, they are 35 calories each ( 3.5x35) =122.5

so 35 grams has 122.5 calories.
Does that make sense?

122.5
i did 350/100 is = to x/35
proportionally, i took it as calories over grams = calories over grams.

Never mind- looks like you've got it covered!

Re: please help with mathematical equation

It's 122.5 calories.

The equation is:

350/100=x/35

100x=12250

x=122.5

You have to have the grams in the same place on each side of the equation.

Re: please help with mathematical equation

I think it should go something like this:

If 350 is 100 grams (350/100) than what is 35 grams (x/35):

350/100 = x/35

(350*35)/100 = 122.5 calories is 35 grams

ETS: Looks like everyone had the same solution at the same time...lol

Thanks,

not sure why the grams have to be on one side though. but i'll trust you all!

for the future.. you cross multiply

x/335+ 35/100 =

35 * 335 = 100x

11725= 100x

11725/100= 100x/100

117.25= x

Edited to say, the math was right, but the #s you had were wrong, the proportion would be 350/100=x/35
then do the cross multiplication.
above is right :)
