Please help...dilemma about ordering a dress

Ok, I'm close to buying my dress, but i have a bit of a dilemma...

It's from David's Bridal, and they said it would take 6-8 weeks to come in. If i order it around the end of January (i'll explain why in a moment), it should be in by early March. I'd like to have it altered somewhere else (not sure where yet), so would that other place hold it for me until my wedding next November?

another dimension to this situation...at the end of January, I'll be having spine surgery, which will put me out of commission for about a month, so i should be somewhat active again by early March. Ideally, I'd like to order it in early march, but I'm worried about it being discontinued (hence I'm thinking of ordering it in late january).

The other problem is weight gain/loss...i expect to gain some weight after the surgery, but i also hope to lose it once i'm active again, especially over the summer. So, maybe it'd be best to order it before i put on more weight so that it doesn't have to be taken in so much later on.

...so many variables...please help!!

Hmmm....tough one.

If u really LUV the dress...buy it at the end of January and hold it at home for a few months until u bring it to get altered. Would that work?

I thought of that, but i have a very small place and a cat who I know will do something to the dress. I live in the apartment below my parents, and the cat goes to their place too (and they're tight for space, too).

really tough. But, honestly, i think i would wait to order a dress since your weddings not til november. I only say this cause i ordered mine really early and i wish i had waited and looked at more dresses. Sometimes you change your mind over a few months. But if you love it , order it. Sorry im not much help.

just a warning. i bought my first dress from davids and they told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks and it came in, in about 3 to 4 weeks.

and i also agree with cmjd, i bought my dress then i ended up falling in love with something else.

Can you find out from David's Bridal to see if the dress will be discontinued anytime soon? If they will carry the dress for awhile, I will wait till after the surgery.

That's what i'm thinking about doing, but it's so hard to get a straight answer from David's Bridal. I'll try anyway.

I ordered my dress from Davids Bridal and the tough thing is that they really do not have a forecast as to when it gets discontinued what happens is that they are informed sometimes very suddenly it usually gets discontiuned due to lack of popularity if you are really in love with this dress why not order it -the tailor you are dealing with maybe really good at making neccessary adjustments it is also worth a shot to see at DB if the dress is popular (sometimes you never know they may have some stocked their headquarters or located in another store) much luck to you!!

Don't order yet. My friends wedding is in Nov. and her dress came in like a week. It's too soon IMO.
