Please Help...Need Options!!!!

Please Help...Need Options!!!!

We have learned from our engagement party responses that we got a lot of Nos, from people we thought were 'friends'.

We are now really worried about our wedding, and not coming close to the 100 minimum. (we are thinking more like a solid 70).

Does anyone have ideas of locations or nice restaurants or places we could maybe rent (park, beach, etc) and not have to worry about a minimum, etc.????

FH house is not big enough. We don't want a place that will be a crazy amount of money either. We only put a $500 deposit for Stewart Manor, and will call them to see if we can put the 30 unattended people's money towards major upgrades, But who knows if they will say.

this is for next labor day sunday, and the clock is ticking to make a decission.

I am so upset and thank you for the suggestions.

I don't know if I would gauge your wedding responses by your Engagement party responses. Sometimes people blow off one party (like the shower, also) so they can go to the wedding. Sometimes it's financial reasons. They may not be able to afford a gift for both.

Anyway, before you go changing your reception site, why don't you try getting them to come down on your minimum booking? They may not go for 70 but maybe they'll meet you halfway at 85 or so. Then you only have to worry about inviting 15 more people instead of 30. Good luck

i agree with above post. Some people cant afford the gifts or just dont go to engagement parties. there have been engagement parties i didnt go to but i went to wedding. I wouldnt base it on that.

Jenny,

Jimmy'sbride is right sometimes people do that. Also don't forget your wedding is a year away and there maybe more people that you may want to invite 6 months from now. If you love the reception hall you picked see if they will work with you before you cancel.

I left a message with SMCC, to see what we can discuss. I hope they will be good to work with, but who knows with halls.

We sent out 70 invitations, we wound up with 60 guests. I don't think we will ever get an additional 20% more over 100 for the wedding.

Re: Please Help...Need Options!!!!

If people know of places to have wedding's that would be great, park, beach, private vinyard, private yacht, etc.

I am sending save the dates (it's labor day weekend, even worse for people to be going away. We pretty much did invite the people we will for wedding, but knew some would not show, out of state.)

Re: Please Help...Need Options!!!!

well FH & I had a long heart to heart last night and didn't come a solution yet.

We feel like, why are we saving all this money, to after sept 5th have nothing. Getting a house is a big dream we want, and the cost of the wedding sets a back even farther away.

We are thinking about cutting our list down to closest friends and family (50 or so people) and doing a smaller reception or cocktail reception.

Anyone have ideas for locations to do that????

I think that East Wind would work with you, I know they have some new smaller rooms in the new INN and I think they have a minum of 50 for them. I also know they have the country gardens which has a low minimum. Also try Girogios and their is a place by my house called Rock Hill Country Club that only holds 100 people so the minumum has to be less then that and the place is really nice. I also know that Thatched Cottage has a smaller room that is were my cousin got married and it was beauitful and she only had like 75 people.

FM me if you need anymore info on any of these places and also if you need more ideas.

I also just looked at lessings website and they have the Riverview which is a beautiful place and they do weddings from 30-100. And the price is not bad and it is right on the water. Also their is Villa Monoco in West Islip, and LaGrange Inn in West Islip. My sisters friend had her wedding at LaGrange and she only had 35 people. Also the 56th Fighters Group dose weddings. Also you could try the Chateau La Mer. Or even try any hotels that have banquet rooms in them. I know my cousin had a really nice party for her husband at the Hilton in Hauppague.

Hope everything works out.

I would suggest trying Meadow Club in Port Jeff if you are going to look for a new place. We have a Saturday night in June with an expanded menu and are paying around 75+.
They also have a buffet menu and on a Sunday I am sure the prices would be less.
