Please Help...Question about Church ceremony!

We got the confirmation today about our date and time for our ceremony in the church...

We were told we have to meet again with the Priest in August or July to discuss details, including the liturgy, etc...

We do not want a mass...just the ceremony..is this all discussed at this meeting??

I am confused and tehy don't give much info....

When we originally sat with the Priest we said that we had wanted a mass. Later on down the road we figured that it would kill our picture time so I went to the church office and they gladly changed it to a ceremony. It was easy for us.

Yes it is all discussed. Because we are planning from California, everytime we visit NY we met with the priest so our details are pretty much set. You just inform him you don't want a mass, but they still do the readings I believe they just leave out the communion part--I am almost positive that is how he explained it.

With a ceremony you will still have readings, just no communion.

When you go to Precana you are given a book that has all the allowed readings plus an outline.

If you don't want a mass, you probably won't have a problem. They are shorter and either a priest or a deacon can do them. In our case, however, we are getting married on a Sunday, so they don't do masses at all unless you have your own priest to do it (b/c the parish priests are already saying so many masses that day).

I think ceremonies are usually only 20-30 minutes long.
