PLease help...We are back to getting married in a church!
So it has been bothering me a little that fh and I weren't getting married in a church. Now he says b/c it's something i want, my mom would like and his grandma would love, we can get married in a church.
The dilemma:
We are both Catholic BUT he didn't recieve all the sacraments. What shall we do? Do you know of any parishes that are more relaxed?

You probably will have to go through the sacraments... We are getting married in a catholic church and they are big on the baptism ~ were you both baptized? I would call your church and ask? if not you still have time to go through the classes I am sure...good luck!

Different churches have different rules, so I would call and ask. My FH is not Catholic, nor did he receive any sacraments other than baptism and this was not a problem at my church. Good luck!

Honestly, I'm getting married in a pretty conservative church and all it took was one person being Catholic and that person being a member of the parish. Also, when we inquired about what it takes to 'be Catholic' in their minds, they said baptism only. They require the MOH and BM to be Catholic, and my sister was baptized but nothing else. They said that's good enougH!
Also, my Mom and Dad were married at St. Brigid's in Westbury 25 years ago and my Dad is not Catholic and it was fine even then.

it depends though, if the other religion doesnt require certain things of you then you dont need it for the church, but if you're catholic and didnt do all your sacraments then youll probably have to
FH is catholic, im not but were getting married in a catholic church...im my religion we just get baptised, no communion or confirmation, all of that is taken care of at baptism lol, so the catholic church wont require me to do something since my religion doesn't require it...im not converting or anything so thats why

its fine if one person is not catholic bc like i said before, other religions dont have communion, confirmation and things like that so if you're not converting then they cant tell you to do something that has nothing to do with your own religion but thats only bc in your own religion you already did everything that was required. All i had to do is be baptised and thats it, so they only asked for baptism records.

Call and ask. I would think that bc both of you are baptized and one of you has been confirmed that this may very well be enough for the both of you to get married in the church - if not at one than another. Good luck! You could also get in touch with the diocese if you have any other questions - www.drvc.org, click on faith formation and then it will direct you to marriage preparation.
