Please make me feel better

Hi guys, (sorry in advance for being sooo long)

Just last week, I accepted a new job....which I am absolutely thrilled about. The new job doesn't start until August 9th, so obviously I had some time before I gave my 2 weeks notice...

Some background info on my current job-I am the only one contributing to my division's bottom line and it is a TON of pressure...my boss is never around which makes things harder...and lately, I have not felt appreciated for anything I do...


So I planned to give notice on July 16th-which would make my last day July 30th (I am going on vacation the week of August 2, and then I would start with my new firm on August 9).

But....this morning, my boss (as usual) really upset me and totally let me know by his actions that he definitely doesn't appreciate me...so I told him I was leaving....

He made me feel so guilty....and totally tried to be harsh and what not...like as if he thought I was going to stay there forever...

Now I am shaking...and really need a hug...I told him I can stay till the end of the month or leave the 16th, either way, I am safe since they have to pay me for 3 weeks vacation I haven't used.

I just hope I did the right thing

Don't ever feel guilty about leaving a job. They can replace you, even if it doesn't seem that way. You were nice enough to say you would stay until the end of the month, and he still treats you badly. Screw him. Get out of that place as soon as possible! Good luck with your new job!

Leave the 16th and get paid the 3 weeks vacation they owe you!
You should not feel guilty for advancing your career, the guy's and idiot and doesn't deserve the 1-month notice you were giving him!

Yes-I just received the official offer letter. And have emails saved of dialogue between me and new company just in case (im anal:):):)

do not feel guilty. You feeling this way only implies that you are a professional. leave on the 16th and enjoy your vacation. Just because you work for dirtbags...doesn't mean you wouldn't feel bad about leaving.

I know, I know. And to think-he expected me to go through an entire system conversion MYSELF...with zero help...when I asked him if he was going to the training for the conversion, he just laughed...oh well, kind of expected from a guy who literally has a 'personal matter' or 'doctor's appointment' every day and leaves at like 2!!!!!!!

well I am not too concerned with that...since i have enough to HANG him. But I know what you mean. So, you seem to be good at this stuff..I hope you weren't burned in the past!!!

Also, does anyone know how to clean up my internet files and what not prior to me leaving? Don't want him to catch all my LIW time!!!!

there is no amount of money that can buy your health. It seems to me as though the stress you were feeling is outweighed heavily by the one or 2 weeks that you will be out of work.

You hit it on the nail....my health is/was in jeopardy here...I has been having trouble sleeping and have high blood pressure...thanks hearzbell for your hugs!

I think this is what you do- Open the C drive and under windows look for temporary internet files. You can delete those, they are a record of where you've been. You should also be able to delete the Cookies stored on your computer. Also clean out your History.
