Re: Please proof my invite for me.

Normally, if you are including your parents names, you don't include your last name.

So instead of:

Deborah Ann Smith
daughter of Nancy Ann Smith

it should read

Deborah Ann
daughter of Nancy Ann Smith

Same thing for FH.

Also, I can see you clearly want to honor your father, but according to all the etiquette books it is never proper to include the name of a deceased parent on the invite. If you mom has not remarried you might want to say:

daughter of Mrs. Roger Smith Sr.

Ummm, the other thing I noticed is that you repeat the date on the reception card. IMO, it's not necessary to have the date on the invite and the reception card.

I love your wording though!! Are you having a Cinderella or fairytale theme??

Darlene - Thanks, your input was very HELPFUL and I made the changes. My family just tells me 'do what you want'. And that isnt much help.
Thanks again.

Yes, I am doing a Cinderella Themed Wedding. How on earth did you guess.

I will agree with Darlene. We lost my father just a few months before we ordered invitations and it was very necessary to honor him as well as his name. But as Darlene said, and as hard as it was to come to terms with, a person who is deceased cannot perform the action of inviting. HOWEVER, my mother is still the wife of my father and she retains the use of his name so we did this:

Mrs. Victor *****
requests the honour of your presence
at the marriage of her daughter...

I also agree with Darlene.

I Love your theme. I love the words you are including on your invites.

Do you have a pic on the invitations you chose?

Hey Villa Girlie. Your day is almost here. No, I dont have a picture of the invites here on this computer. But I am doing white silk paper scrolls with silver bars on the top and bottom and a silver tassel.
Yes, after reading Darlenes comments I also agree and made the changes. She is awesome.

I know it is not proper etiquette to include someone who had died but we are doing it too because my FH's father died too and he was an important part of why my FH is who he is and I wouldnt feel right not including him in the invitation. I think people should do what they feel is right for them and you cant always go by etiquette.

My FH's father was also a very important part of who is is, as was my father. Sadly, neither of them lived to see this day. We are making them a part of the day first by including a memorial section in the programs to acknowledge the significance each of them made in our respective lives, second by having a memorial candle for each at the reception, and third in lieu of favors we are making donations in their respective memories (cancer organization for his dad, brain aneurysm foundation for mine).

There are so many ways to recognize those special people that have passed, but I stick with what I said, an invitation is not the place to do it.

Well, in my case it was and my FH and his mom wanted him acknowledged as son of- so what is right for one might not be for another- and we will be doing a candle for him too
