please proofread my invitation wording

what do you think?...

Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents
&
Mr. & Mrs. Groom's Parents
Request the honour of your presence
As their children

Emily Jane
&
Alessandro

Join their hands and hearts before God
And exchange matrimonial vows

Friday, the twenty-third of June
Two thousand and six
At six o’clock in the evening

St Brigid’s Church
75 Post Avenue
Westbury, NY

Reception to follow at
The Jericho Terrace

Do you think the 'join their hands and hearts' is cheesy? My mom thought 'request the honour of your presence at the marriage of the children' was a bit boring. so i spiced it up a bit. opinions please. i need to order them asap. TIA!!!

It sounds great and since you're tying the knot in a house of worship, honour of your presence is customary

I think it's fine....

Only thing I would add is if you are having a Mass you should state that.... as people need to know it will be about an hour. if it's just the ceremony, i think it's fine...
If it's a Mass I would take out 'exhange matrimonial vows' and put in something like 'receive the Sacrament of marriage at a Nuptial Mass at.... blah, blah church.'

I am a bit of traditionalist, so you might not like this for yourself, but if it was me, i would take out 'exhange matrimonial vows' and put in 'receive the Sacrament of Marriage'. Also, some people state on the invitation that it's a catholic church so it would be ' St. Bridgid's Roman Catholic Church.' Technically, i think that's how it's supposed to be, but I've seen people not do it too.
