PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

Please proofread....based on the design of our invites, I included both of our last names even though you wouldn't normally...also, b/c FH doesn't want his middle name (Angus ) on it, and it looked funny with just our first names....so I think it's ok, right? Also, my parents are paying for basically everything--FH's parents are paying for typical groom family stuff--RD, Day-After Brunch, and a couple of other things (shuttle for OOT guests, etc.). FH & I are only paying for HM, rings, etc.

here it is:

Mr. and Mrs. Robert XXXXXX

request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

Nicole Marie XXXXXX
&
Nicholas A. XXXXX

son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald XXXXX

on Saturday, the Seventh of June
Two thousand and Eight
at three o'clock in the afternoon

Saint John the Baptist Church
1488 North Country Road
Wading River, New York

Cocktails, Dinner & Dancing to follow
at seven o'clock in the evening

Hamlet Willow Creek
1 Clubhouse Drive
Mount Sinai, New York

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

I don't know....our invite has a big flourish-y &....so it's an &.....but originally the text said

Mr & Mrs Bride's Parents
with Mr & Mrs Groom's Parents

request the honour of your
presence at the marriage of

would that be ok to use even though my parents are paying? I like it better, but I don't want to give the wrong message....???

I agree it should be 'to'.

And I think the initial 'A.' is a little distracting if your name with your middle name is right above his. It's like, 'what scary middle name is he trying to hide?' I say full middle names for both or no middle name at all for either.

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

I think it should be Nicole 'TO' and not & as well, also, the T in thousand should be capitalized cuz it looks off I think w/o it, otherwise don't capitalize the E in eight....other then that it looked great!

So what do you think about what I posted above:

our invite has a big flourish-y &....so it's an &.....but originally the text said

Mr & Mrs Bride's Parents
with Mr & Mrs Groom's Parents

request the honour of your
presence at the marriage of

can we still have that if my parents are paying??

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

ok so if you want to keep the '&' then have it say, Mr & Mrs XXX request the honor of your presence for the marriage of their daughter

Nicole &

Son of X

Like what I had originally? I have to keep the & b/c it's like a big graphic element that ties in all the flourishes on the invite....

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

i would keep the groom's parents names under his name but change '&' to 'To'

yea pretty much....I said 'for' the marriage of their daughter....you said 'at' I like for better personally. JMO...but if the ampersand is part of the invite then definately keep it!

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

Ok I emailed my mom 2 versions--the original way, and then with both parents names at the top....we'll see what she says--I do agree with you ladies that it makes more sense with to, but the & is a big part of the design so it's not going anywhere.....!

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP....I will figure this out! argh!

Re: PLEASE Proofread my invite text!!

What about:

Mr. and Mrs. XXXX
request the honor of your presence
at the ceremony (nuptual mass) uniting their daughter

Nicole
&

Son of X
in holy matrimony....

I have to have the &.....it's like a big flourish-y &, it's part of the design of the invitation...obviously I didn't really think this through when I chose it but too bad, now I've got & and I've got to use it.....it's very important to the design!
