PLEASE READ: Appreciate all you have in life.......

Ladies
Yesterday I literally saw someone die before my eyes, it is very scary! I was shopping in waldbaums and walking around and saw this older lady lying on the floor in front of an aisle while someone was pumping her chest
it was very scary

I couldnt watch the whole thing so I walked around the back way and passed by another 3-4 times later on to see if she was okay, but everytime I walked by she was still just lying still on the floor
then the cops were there..... and I Heard a girl who worked there tell someone that 'that lady died'

it was frightening
I mean one minute she was walking around w/ a shopping cart and the next not breathing! Last nite when I went to bed I kept seeing her lying there when I closed my eyes and it took me a while to fall alseep
I do not really know exactly what happened to her but when they took her away the boy was mopping up vomit I saw on the floor

after that I felt sad and nauseaus and thought to myself how lucky I am and we really have to appreciate all we do have b/c that was very scary to see

How sad! I'm sorry you had to witness this. You are right, sometime we lose track of the bigger and most important things in life. I was thinking about this last night when I watch the Warren Zevon special on VH1 and here is someone who was told that he only has months to live.

hugs to you! I am sorry you saw this but I think we all sometimes forget what we take for granted. Something like this makes you realize how important things are. A valuable lesson to us all.

Life is so unpredictable....I know I take it for granted sometimes and stories like this make you stop and really think about all you have and how precious life is.
I'm sorry you had to witness this, I can only imagine how difficult it is to get those images out of your head.

that is so sad. I am so sorry you had to see that. You have to live each day to the fullest and most importantly NEVER go to bed angry at or with anyone b/c you just never know

Sorry you had to see that. Its true, life is too short and you never know when your time is going to be up.

Tammy,

Unfortunately that image will probably haunt you for some time. I had a similiar experience a few years ago and I can still see the image in my head as fresh as the day it happened. It is very sad, but it does make you re-evaluate your priorities, even if it's just for a short while.

Tammy,

I'm so sorry you had to experience that. I agree with Shamee that images like that leave a permanent mark in your mind. They lose their 'punch' after a while, but the images remain. I can only imagine how you felt.

My grandmother died in 2000 while I held her hand. Only a few hours earlier she had gone to a doctor's appointment (gotten a clean bill of health), and had lunch at McDonald's. She was almost 98.

A minute or so after she passed, I got up to leave the room and she suddenly started 'breathing' again!! I nearly fell over from the shock of it! They were big gaspy breaths, like you would take after you have been under water a little too long. But I kept holding her hand and talking to her, telling her it was okay. I felt horrible to watch her struggle for breath like that. In her eyes, she was gone, but yet her body still struggled on. It was traumatizing to say the least. When the paramedics came, she was no longer 'breathing.' I left the room, saying, 'I think she's gone...'

I made it half way up the stairs and couldn't walk anymore. So I literally crawled up the rest of the stairs, and called my friend for support, and to tell her what happened.

I will NEVER forget those images, or how my physical body just went out from under me, making me crawl up the stairs. They were both very humbling experiences and taught me how fragile we all really are.

Later I learned that my grandmother was already gone, and that the 'breathing' was just the nervous system reacting. She wasn't struggling for breath. That made me feel a little better. I never knew that happened when we died.

Anyway...

Hugs Tammy. You'll feel better soon!

Aw Karen I can only imagine what that must have been like. I know you said once before on the boards that you helped care for your grandmother. I'm sure it was a blessing for her to have you there holding her hand as she passed on.

Tammy, How upsetting, I dont know how they deal with it either.
