So, I just emailed our priest asking to confirm the time of the ceremony which is 1:30 - the priest just emailed me back and said 'The time booked is the time expected that the couple be standing on the Altar....' So, should I write on my invitations the ceremony is at 1:00? or 1:15? If I put 1:30 then people might start showing up at that time!
Same thing for the cocktail hour ... it starts at 6:30 but the receptin hall said we can put a start time at 600 because they have coffees, teas, refreshments for early arrivals!
HELP SERIOUSLY NEED ADVICE!!
THANK YOU!!
** Can I write One Fifteen in the afternoon Doesnt that sound weird? lol

Re: ahhh I NEED help again ... STUPID INVITES
I would put 1:00 for the ceremony and 6:00 for the cocktail hour. My RH told me to put a time that is 1/2 earlier for the cocktail hour too. :)

I would put 1:00 and 6:00. People often run a little late. This way they wont miss anything!

I was wondering this myself.... So its okay to lie on the invites?? So you dont say 'arrive at 1 for ceremony at 1:30' right? Just say 'ceremony at 1' ?

I would put 1:00. Especially for those people who run late, you don't want anyone walking in when you are walking down the aisle or saying your vows....same thing for the cocktail hour...put 6.

I would put 15 minutes earlier no more, as guest do get annoyed if they come and have to wait......but believe me, I thought about doing that as well for the church, but didnt, people will give themselves enough time for that, dont worry, they did for our wedding in June anyway. For the cocktail hour its fine, to put a 1/2 earlier due to the fact that they usually open that room up 15 minutes earlier then the start time, so you would be safe again with the time of 6:00, hope this helps you out a bit.....

You do run the risk of the people who get there early or on time annoyed at you for being there a half hour early. What about a 1pm time on the invites and a 1:15 ceremony. Could you email the priest and ask him about a 1:15 start time? See how that works.

I would say 'quarter past one in the afternoon' or 'quarter after one in the afternoon'
i feel like a 30 minute delay is a bit much, i hate getting to a wedding and then waiting that long, especially since most ceremonies i've been to started late anyway.

I would NOT change the time for the RH. They don't mean they'll add on a half hour to your party - they just mean they'll be set up if people arrive early, which they will inevitably do. If you put 5:30, people may show up even earlier and the hall won't be early. Don't change the reception time.
For the church, don't put more than 15 minutes earlier. I know a lot of people lie about the time, but it is REALLY annoying to those of us who show up on time and wonder why the bride is 30-45 minutes late. I'd put 1:15 for the ceremony.

What they mean is that ... specifically for early arrivals they will have coffee, tea, refreshments BEFORE the cocktail hour officially starts. I know they will not add a half hour.
