Ok lately I keep seeing alot of complaints about vendors. Some of them are understandable, and others its more like yes i do feel bad for you but at the same time all this is in your contract...To contact the vendor or RH after all this time and then argue with them about something and then surprised at their answer, but meanwhile it was in your contract all along.
And not just complaints either but ill see people asking questions about certain things, and if they decide to go with a decision what would happen with their payment, or some other type of question. These are all things that are answered in my contracts. I know they can be long and annoying to read, but you wont really have a case trying to dispute something if you signed and agreed to those terms.
Also, there are things that come up that are unexpected, yes its very unfortunate. But if something were to happen and i know whats stated in my contract i would be annoyed of the situation but i know what i would have to do and what that would mean.
I see some people who are shocked by some policies

i'm glad someone said it, b/c i have felt that way sometimes reading things too.
every situation is different, but i am a firm believer that if you signed up for it, then you are responsible.
good post, denise.

Glad someone else feels the same way.
There are a few situations where yes the people were right but MOST its like uhmmm but its in your contract so you are surprised why?
also another situation has nothing to do with the above...but if you say you went to see a vendor, didnt like them and got a bad feeling about them but booked anyways, and then later on they did things you didn't like, well then you should've gone with your gut...You knew something was wrong from the beginning, you had a bad feeling about the person, so why put yourself in that situation

hahaha not saying no questions should be asked, hey there are stuff that aren't in the contract or wasn't discussed so its normal. If it didnt say anything about video in your contract then that is a perfectly normal question.

Re: Please read your contracts
I remember when I first got my contract for our RH I asked them if I could take it home with us and they were shocked and really taken back....
I told them that I wanted to read it over. We came back the following day with a written addendum to the contract - a list of things we wanted changed, taken out, or edited.
It's SO important to do that. After seeing so many people losing their deposits and getting sued, its VITAL that you read what you sign. Make copies. Edit. Reread. It's not just a few dollars....in a lot of cases its THOUSANDS of dollars. And I don't know about you, but that surrrrrreeeeeee isn't pocket change to us! Especially when you're footing a huge chunk of it!
It may seem silly, and your vendors may even smirk at you (ours did! ) but it's in YOUR best interest to do so.
Wow, I sound like an annoying lecturer. If my mom ever said this to me I'd be so annoyed....so I'll shut my face now.
But just some food for thought.

WOW that is great that you did that, hmmm i wish i did lol.
Honestly vendors make that face because they know they can get away with certain things because most people wont read the contracts so good for you. Some people feel bad to sit there and read it all while they wait for you to sign but who cares, you are paying money and giving them business they should be understanding. I mean isn't that what you are supposed to do, infact alot of them will tell you to read it first or point things out that you need to know.
NO you dont sound annoying lol, i think its great advice and definitely can help others out.

glad to know i am not the only one who feels like this.
AND its not just about things that are in a contract...its other things about vendors too...i know there was controversey about a vendor rant earlier the veil one btw. You can't expect someone to take back something you bought if it says FINAL SALE on your receipt...Some things the customers want are unacceptable and they have to remember that its a business and there are certain things they cant do.

Re: Please read your contracts
you are sooo right! I read every contract either sitting with the vendor or after at home and called with any questions I had. Most contracts explain everything...and answer most questions. We are spending soooooo much $$$$ and I don't think any vendor would mind if you took 15 more minutes of there time and read the contacts!

Re: Please read your contracts
Good Point. I actually didnt do that with any of my vendors.. I read them AFTER i signed them But now I realize the importance of reading them. SO when i go to book Limos and Photos I plan on doing that.

Re: Please read your contracts
totally agree. its soooo important to know exactly what u want and need and have it clearly stated. and i know its hard because sometimes ppl don't realize things til after the fact...but its like once u sign the contract how can anyone argue for things to be included that werent or whatever the case is when u signed the document that u were supposed to read....cuz then its not a fair business deal. just be very careful and look out for yourself cuz its a lot of $. i think we revised our rh contract like 5 times before finally signing it and leaving $

thank goodness you posted this!
when i went to see vendors - i let whoever was with me (FH or MOH or my mom) chat with the person while i sat there and read every single line. . . you should SEE my JT contract . . .i made the poor guy clarify EVERYTHING in writing!
it actually says: Reception - $ plus Viennese - $$ plus After hours - $$$ AND THEN after that I asked him to write that i was only responsible for what i picked out the month before the wedding and it would be given to me AT THAT PRICE. He was very nice and I trusted him - but you have to protect your behind
ALSO - SO MANY GIRLS complain about Patken and their engagement picture set up. If you just ask them to explain it to you - they will tell you the exact number of pictures they will take and you only get one picture included. It is all very clear cut and straight forward. But then girls badmouth the photographer and maybe discourage other people from using them!

thats good though what you did...HAHA i did the same, anything they said they would throw in or give at a certain price i made them write it in the contract...I dont need them to turn around one year later and saying uhmmm we didn't say we'd give you that
SEE thats a HUGE problem...ALot of girls do get made about certain policies and then when they find out later they're upset about it and complain that they were deceived but Uhmmmno you weren't...It discourages others to look at that photographer but also it will scare brides who did hire them
